It is incredible how great this Jazz Session Pack sounds and how Toontrack is raising the bar with this SDX. I love Hansa, Stories and Fields of Rock, but it is just stunning how accurate, dynamic and responsive this set works for me triggered with a Roland TD20 set.  I just love the Sonor Phonic and the Yamaha Recording custom.

Playing it since day one, the Yamaha RC is great and plays beautifully with my e-drums

I’ve already used the Club kit on an Indie track and it sat beautifully. Some of these kicks have a real heft to them… lovely stuff. With the all the very best SDX genre really doesn’t come into. A well recorded kit is just that.

I bought almost immediately and am very pleased with the richness of the sounds! I have so many SDXs but I have been inspired at the level of detail of the newer libraries. Toontrack just keeps getting better and better at this!

Hey thanks for posting this. I watch the videos and thought the drums sound amazing but wondered if they’d sit in a mix in a non-jazz genre. I’m going for that understated but open and natural sound you hear on a Jack Johnson record and Norah Jones (Begin Again or Pick me up off the floor albums).

Don’t happen to have any audio examples of non-jazz beats? 😀

I used the included grooves and some others to sample the kits. I’m quite happy with the purchase. And I agree this is good for genres other than jazz.

Now I have to decide on 2 more kits to complete a 3 pack bundle. I’m considering Hitmaker, Stockholm and Stories. Decades was at the top of the list prior to this release, though the Soul & Tight Pop kits are still tempting.

    Studio One v5.5.2, Cubase v12.0.60

Go for hitmaker (for the best snares) and stories, Stockholm is not as detailed

I went with Stories. Great sound and the added percussion was too tempting.

I did notice Stockholm is a much smaller download than the others. The electronic kits in Hitmaker would be useful. I think all those toms I would never use are a slight turn off.

I’m considering waiting to see what the next release will be, but I’ll likely jus grab Hitmaker and hope Toontrack doesn’t release the R&B/Soul/Neo-Soul/Funk SDX I’ve been hoping for.

I don’t know what sorcery you did, but this SDX plays absolutely perfectly with my e-kit. Not sure if you cut the samples differently or altered something in the backend or if it’s just engineering genius….

Granted I don’t have some of the new-new sdx’s I do have Hitmaker, decades, LOR and FoR and none of them are plug and play with my e-kit there’s always a bunch that needs to be done get get the same feel, attack etc… the kits in the Jazz Sessions just feel right on the default settings!

If it is something TT has learned or changed and that could be applied to previous SDX. That would awesome, the playability is just amazing.

Also, agreed though this expansion can do it all except maybe? metal.
