Qualche mese fa ho sentito in rete della potenziale uscita di EZ mix 3. Si sa qualcosa in merito? Data di uscita, compatibilità con i pacchetti di Ez mix 2? Grazie

while we wait for EZmix3, does anyone know how to convert a VST2 plugin to a VST3? i recently upgraded to Cubase12 and VST2 plugins (EZmix2) are no longer supported.

this means i need to find new ways to have the tones i want despite already paying for EZmix and several add on packages

its very frustrating when trying to improve your situation and then get bitten in the ass by it

    thanks for any possible help

Cubase 12 on Windows still supports VST2. It’s only on Apple silicon Macs when running Cubase 12 in native mode that VST2 can’t be used.

Olof – are you kindly able to give some indication for any likely ETA, or future plans, for a version of EZMix (presumably to V3) that will bring it up to vst3 compatibility? Whilst recognising that the Apple Silicon Mac aficionados (of whom I am one) may be the only ones currently affected, EZMix 2 has been a key part of my workflow for many years, and I have decades of musical history of mine that is now no longer as when I created or mixed it.  it is fair to say that many of us are suffering because EZMix has not yet seen an upgrade to convert to vst3, and we have to find a way around this. For the moment, Logic X still seems to run EZMix 2 correctly on the same Mac, so perhaps this is only an issue for Cubase users (of which almost everything I have ever recorded is in!). Many thanks

Thanks Olof for your reply to my question from yesterday. Let me try to be careful to reply to you in a respectful way, whilst attempting to express some of the frustration that is felt not only by me personally, but also, as I can see, by many others. Toontrack is a highly respected marque in the creative musical world, and I, like I am sure many others, have spent up to thousands of dollars over the years on your products. EZmix is but one of the innovative technologies and products that ToonTrack has brought to our community, and you should be rightly proud of it, and what it has done for content creators like me.

We also know that the transition from vst2 -> vst3 has been on the horizon for many years, and that companies such as yourself have had adequate warning that this transition was likely to impact many of the common platforms (such as MacOS on Apple Silicon), and popular software products (such as CuBase). And so it is a reasonable expectation that many of us might have that Toontrack would be on top of this impending transition, and would be able to have a clear upgrade plan for migrating from vst2 -> 3. To be quite honest, I don’t particularly care if it means me purchasing a different version of EZMix (e.g. EZMix3) – any small incremental cost is less important to me than being able to maintain the legacy content that I have created, which in part has relied on EZMix as a critical part of the workflow.

I understand your reply of sending me off to a page about vst3-compatability – a nice easy way to deflect my question, and one that many of us might feel concerned about, but this gets us no further along the line of having an understanding about the Toontrack view, planning, or strategic foresight as to whether your product(s) will be fit for purpose in the future, at least for those of us foolhardy enough to be running on Apple Silicon, MacOS 14, CuBase, whatever.

So, can I please ask you directly again to give us some perspective as to what ToonTrack’s plans are for migrating products, and in this case specifically EZMix, to vst3 compatibility, so that we can at least try to recover the integrity of legacy content that we have created. If there are no clear plans or strategy for this, then fine, I will have to start to plan to move away from ToonTrack products, but I, as probably no different to many other of your users, need to have an understanding of how ToonTrack plans to support its community in going forward, and in the context of this thread, related to EZMix.

I hope at the end of this you will neither ignore this posting (I’m sure that you won’t because that would be rude), nor that you are simply going to repost the link you previously gave to your vst3-compatibility get-out-of-jail free link. Please remember that many of us have been loyal customers to ToonTrack products over extended periods, and that we probably all want to see ToonTrack continuing to evolve and innovate – but frankly, sending us to links like your vst3-compatability page is not the answer that we might expect from a company that is at the top of their game.

I have tried to phrase this message very diplomatically, I hope that you will be able to respond to myself, and other reading this, in a positive spirit, and in the way that I have tried to write my comments. I will also copy this message onto by email to your Managing Director, Peter Knutsson in Umea, to try to stimulate some productive discussion internally within ToonTrack. Best wishes

I’m sorry, I thought the link I gave was a good answer to part of what you were asking about – it contains a statement by Toontrack saying “EZbass already supports VST3. VST3 support for our other products will be added either through minor or major updates.” EZmix is of course one of those products that will get VST3 support. If that was already clear to you, I misunderstood.

That also means that we are not abandoning the EZmix line.

As to what the specific plans and schedule are for this is something we cannot disclose at this time.

However, since EZmix is the only of our products still missing VST3 support now, you can assume it is a high priority for us.

    thanks

I had this problem mentioned in the post immediately above this as well, and have also written (directly to the CEO of Toontrack – and never even got an acknowledgment !) to complain about it, but no news yet on a version that will work alongside vst3’s. However, if you are running Cubase 13 on an M1 Mac powerbook you can open Cubase 13 in Rosetta mode, and then you should find that you can access EzMix2. I cannot say whether there is a similar solution for Windows, as I am only running on a Mac with the latest operating system. Although the Rosetta workaround is not an ideal situation, it does work flawlessly on my setup , and has saved a lot of my historical recordings from having to be remastered. But please feel free, as I have done, to write directly to the CEO of Toontrack and complain – the more people that do so, then, just perhaps, the more notice will be taken to prioritising this.

I’ve read about the Mac Rosetta mode, but I have Windows and unfortunately I can’t seem to find such a work around. So unfortunately my paid products will just gather digital dust until this issue is addressed

    thanks!
