Hi!
Can I move EzKeys soundbanks (libraries) to external HD.
(I’ve done that with EzDrummer2)
Will there be problems with future updates of EzKeys soundbanks.
Hope you can help.
Hi,
you can do it the same way you did with EZdrummer 2 but instead of moving the ‘EZdrummer’ folder and pointing the software to the location, you move the ‘EZKeys’ folder containing the sounds and MIDI. Just make sure you’re updated.

Hi again!
“Just make sure you’re updated.”
For some reason when you update you are not able
to select folder as you can in most (all other) VSTi.I have.
What is the best workaround for updates once you moved the folder?

Thanked by: Alfie AgiusThe folder contains the Sounds and MIDI, not the plugin. The plugin must NOT be moved or copied post initial install. This will sooner rather than later break functionality and updating.

Thanked by: Alfie AgiusIt was the Sounds and MIDI folder I was refering to.
Since you cant select this folder in the update
is EzKeys able to find this moved folder and update Sounds and midi correctly?

Thanked by: Alfie AgiusYes,
if you have linked the library to the plugin after you moved it. Moving the library and then running a MIDI or Sound Library update would not work, of course, since there would be no way for the updater to know where to look except for in the previous location.
So run any available updates before you move the library, then directly after you have moved it, link the library to the plugin by opening it (in your host or standalone) and pointing to the new location.
Subsequent updates will be aware of the new location.

Good day,
I did this successfully with EZDrummer 2 and EZkeys Upright, it worked perfectly. Now that I’m attempting to install Classic Electrics, it defaults to the Boot Drive. I thought that it would automatically know where to go after I moved Upright Piano.
I don’t want to proceed with a Boot Drive install, only to have to remove everything.
Please Help!!!
All the best!
Hi,
IIRC it only looks as if it is Defaulting to the system drive, since there is a symbolic link there, pointing to the correct location.
I.e. if I have my EZkeys folder moved to my external FW drive and browse to ‘Library/Application Support/EZkeys’ on my internal drive, it will show me the contents of the ‘EZkeys’ folder on the FW drive while it is attached.

Thanks for responding, It’s actually another internal drive in my Mac Pro, not an external drive. My Boot Drive is labeled “SSD Boot”, and that’s where it’s defaulting when I try to install Classic Electrics.
Again, I installed Upright Piano, did all updates, and successfully moved it to another drive with no problems. If I understand you correctly, you’re saying it only “looks” as if it’s going to install on “SSD Boot”?
It should now default to “Sample Drive” since that’s where I moved EZKeys Upright, as well as EZDrummer 2 successfully.
Please Advise…Thank you!!!
In short, yes.
I just ran the installer for another EZkeys product and the paths shown to the system drive has to do with the plugins and standalone app.
