Please give feedback on what you’d like to see in EZkeys2.

I like to start the day with a good chuckle. This one-liner has been doing the job for more than 5 years now. Precious. 😆

Well of course. I’m in charge of everything and know precisely Toontrack’s plan with all releases…5 years ago when I posted. Good call… glad you can point out a 5 year old post.

Just seen this reply from a moderator. One could almost detect a sense of smugness here about the fact that he knows what Toontrack’s plans are but us, their paying customers, don’t.

    Hmmm. not impressed Scott.

Just being honest.  Snarky comments can receive snarky replies. Moderators are people too.

Toontrack employees sign a NDA. It states we can’t give out information other than what is approved by Toontrack. Toontrack keeps release info close to the vest and when they are ready to release info, they do. I couldn’t say anything about releases if I wanted to.

Apologies, Scott. Not directed at you personally. However, you have to realize that to us users out here in the world you are Toontrack. I think TT products are generally amazing, and own a bunch, but the situation with EZ Keys lack of development has been going on for so long, frustrating doesn’t even begin to describe it. I deal with ceaseless frustration with humor; if we couldn’t laugh, we’d all go insane, as the song goes.

Years back I simply asked that TT be honest with us: if there are no immediate plans to address user concerns/requests you’ve received going back to that 5 year old request you made, with further development of the product, just please tell us so we can stop  fruitlessly wishing and wasting all of our time, yours included. Can you not get any information on that? If you’re kept in the dark about the most basic of information from your company, for which you’re out here on the front line dealing with customers, I feel for you. I really do.  I’ve worked in customer service before. For me, it’s all about setting expectations which, when repeatedly not met, leads to building frustration. Just human nature, which we all are out here as well. ✌️

I can’t comment on development/future releases/et al for reasons I’ve stated above (NDA).

So, there you have it folks!

I think we can all take it from Scott’s response that we’re all wasting our time here because Toontrack have a policy of keeping their future development plans to themselves and you WILL NOT be privy to them.

Well, the last word from me is; that policy sucks big time and, although they’ve got some great products (and some which could be far better), the company itself and their apparent lack of respect for their customers leaves a lot to be desired and I’ll certainly be expressing that opinion on the various music forums at every opportunity.

To be fair to Scott, I work for a software company and am in the same boat as him – we sign NDA’s and can’t publicly release any information about future development without approval from the marketing and management team. While I too am frustrated at the EZKeys GUI compared with EZBass and SD3, alleviating our frustrations at the expense of his job and livelihood is a little much to ask of Scott.

    Absolutely agree.

“… without approval from the marketing and management team.” And therein lies the crux of the situation. I, too, have signed numerous NDAs in my work. I get it. I feel for Scott because he’s representing the company out here in the world trying to answer questions that are a huge, ongoing source of frustration to the users, and the company isn’t helping him out one bit. That’s why I asked: “Can you not get any information…?”

Scott: “Any further release discussion can be taken up directly with Toontrack. Contact Support directly via the Contact Support button in the FAQ below.

He apparently cannot, is clearly as frustrated as we are, and so is stepping aside to point up the ladder. At this point, the issue is bigger than Scott and is a case study in how not to treat your customers or staff.  It’s unfortunate all the way around.

Hi Toontrack, Ive Been following this thread or years.

Id like to see EZKEYS(TWO) – share all the same features that SD3 and EZBASS have, especially..

    • better searh MIDI features.
    • with a better interface, and resizable windows.
    • multiple tracks ,
    • adjustable tempo,
    • search to find browser and all those other features like EZBass
    • follow play styles like in EZBASS
    • Id like Advanced Midi editing features that are better than my DAW’s
    • Id like to see stand alone versions of EZ Keys / EZ Bass / SD3 all working together as if they WERE A DAW , so i can create a song without needing to open my DAW ( like pro tools or cubase etc)

Note ; What I do NOT want .., is more sounds from EZ KEYS 2 , (unless they are released only as optional extras)

    • because EZ Keys for me > IS ALL ABOUT THE MIDI / CREATIVITY / AND SONG CREATION/ COMPOSING!

    To Me .., Sounds are a separate thing altogether ;

    • and it is good how toontrack has kept the purchasing of their sound libraries separate for EZ Keys , so I can decide if I want to Buy their sound libraries or not , or if I want, go and use the MIDI i created within EZKEYS > and use it in my DAW with any other 3rd party V.I. that I own.

Ive been waiting many years for an EZKEYS-TWO to be released , and i cant wait for when it IS eventually released.

C’MON Toontrack, PLEASE Bring It ON!

    • and like the others said.., I don’t want to be dying of old age waiting?

Thanks for getting in touch with Toontrack. We’ll pass your thoughts on to the development team… because we sure don’t give a sh1t about them.

For all intents and purposes EZKeys has been abandoned by Toontrack.  Stop dwelling on an otherwise antiquated piece of software and move on.

I can only underline what David and others stated. I am a fan of  Toontrack products for many years now and use SD3 and meanwhile also EZBass quite a lot. That’s the kind of features and GUI that makes fun when creating music. I gave up using EZKeys meanwhile and went for some other products, but I would love to come back to EZKeys if EZKeys could offer similar features and a look&feel like EZBass and SD3 do.

Can’t express strongly enough how AMAZING that would be. EZ Bass and SD3 GUIs and capabilities are incredible. Unfortunately, after years of people here requesting updates to EZ Keys, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. It’s really too bad because people actually compose music on piano. Bass and drums, not so much.

I recently bought EZkeys so that I could test it properly as the ‘Try before you buy’ version was so restrictive it was not even possible to save the test data I was working on – I had to start again every time I opened the app!

After a little bit of testing it is clear that EZkeys is hopelessly out of date and needs a re-write to bring it up to the levels of SD3 and EZbass.

Come on Toontrack – You don’t need to reinvent the wheel – you’ve already developed the principles of what’s needed in SD3 and EZbass: Grid Editing, resizable GUI and all the other things mentioned by your many customers above.

Currently EZkeys is a very poor product by today’s standards and a very bad advertisment for Toontrack. You are doing yourselves no favours by constantly ignoring and alienating your user base.

The same frustration here. Started with Toontrack Drums and Bass and then added EZ Keys. Very disappointed about EZ Keys and will come back to EZ Keys and give it a second chance when they are updating this product. In the meantime I am using Band in a box with much much more fun than using EZ Keys.

I will not buy any EZ Keys product until there is any progress…

I’m in agreement with the other requests of a resizable interface and a much better grooves bowser.

In addition to seeing the standard chord progression notation, I’d like to see an option to show the chord progression in functional roman numeral display.
