The “EZdrummer Content Path” Edit button is grayed out in my Superior Drummer 3.0.1 Settings | Libraries dialog box, so I cannot move the MIDI directory to another disk. I’m not sure if this is by design.
A registry change on Windows did the trick to move the MIDI directory to another disk:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWOW6432NodeToontrackSuperiorEZDrummer
HomePath: Path to EZdrummer root directory which contains the MIDI sub directory.
Here is a workaround screencapture (duration about 60 seconds):

Note: I dont’ have EZDrummer installed.
My suggestion is to split the EZdrummer settings for Content and MIDI so a user can select the location what he want.
Thanks,
Erwin
That looks like an easy solution…as long as it doesn’t upset anything else when you change the Key.
I was looking for a solution too in this thread, when I saw your post.
https://www.toontrack.com/forum/superior-drummer-3-help/moving-ezxsdxmidi-files-new-paths/
I wanted to move my EZX and SDX packs to a dedicated drive….and maybe leave the MIDI in its original location where it’s been since the start, when I first installed EZD1 some time ago…which I don’t use. So the solution given in my thread above would allow me to remove EZD1…but your Key edit is pretty simple to do.
A word of caution, this way is not supported and there are other ways to change the ‘EZHOME’ repository.
Hopefully a programmer can chime in here and clarify but I think that performing this registry hack may mess up future installations of EZX:s and Toontrack MIDI.

Thanks John…that’s what I was concerned about…that there may be other things “intertwined” with the Key.
I’ll go with your suggestion to simply uninstall the plugins, move the sample packs, and then reinstall just SD3 and re-point to the new EZ Home location.

I could not find better ways in SD2 or SD3 to move the EZHOME directory. I don’t have EZdrummer.
I use this registry trick since the early days of Toontrack and I’m fully aware that this is unsupported. It works for me.

That would be great!
I forgot this: I wish I had Superior Drummer 3 10 years earlier! My complements for the developers.
But…if you don’t have EZDrummer…then you should be able to set your EZHome location when you are installing SD3.
That’s what John suggested to me…remove EZDrummer plugin…then reinstall SD3, and in one of the installation windows, you have the options to set the EZHome location to whatever you want.
It was actually very easy and fast…and it worked, no Registry editing needed.

I could not manage this with SD3. I think you specified the EZHOME directory during the EZdrummer2 installation which is missing in the SD3 setup. I have a reproducible testcase on a clean Windows 10 installation:
1. The SD3 installer asks for the VSTPlugin directory, not the EZdrummer installation path. See the screencapture of my SD3 setup below:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gm22zlj61y62fgb/SD3Setup.gif?dl=0
2. The Edit button is still grayed out without any other Toontrack products installed.

Can you tell me how? I think it is not possible with SD3 and want to report this as a missing feature (AKA bug).
Hi Erwin,
I described it to Miroslavl in this thread:
https://www.toontrack.com/forum/superior-drummer-3-help/moving-ezxsdxmidi-files-new-paths/
If you uninstall all Toontrack drum sample players (EZdrummer 1, EZdrummer 2, Superior 2 or Superior 3) and EZplayer Pro (should you have it installed), the next time you install one of those plugins you get the option to Custom install the ”EZHOME’ location.
This is a good option if you do not have EZdrummer 2 installed, if you have EZdrummer 2 installed you simply move it and point EZdrummer 2 to the new location, as per this FAQ:
https://www.toontrack.com/faq/how-do-i-move-the-sounds-for-ezdrummer-2/
If uninstalling all plugins as described above and in the other thread does not present you with the Custom install option, it would indicate manual editing of the Registry or similar.
IIRC, you started with editing the Registry, or am I wrong?

John

Hi John,
Thanks for your explanation. Yes, the registry trick works for me, because I don’t have EZdrummer 1/2 or EZplayer Pro plugins installed.

Erwin
