Hi, just a few questions about upgrading to EZdrummer 2.
1. Do I need my copy of EZdrummer 1 installed on my PC before installing EZdrummer 2?
2. Will EZdrummer 1 still work separately from EZdrummer 2, and can I uninstall EZdrummer 1 if I want?
3. When installing EZdrummer 2, do I need to first uninstall EZdrummer 1?
Hi,
1) No, you do not need to have EZdrummer 1 installed before installing EZdrummer 2
2) No, EZdrummer 2, though a new product will replace EZdrummer 1 on your system and they can not coexist.
3) No, you do not need to uninstall EZdrummer 1 before installing EZdrummer 2

EZD 2 will replace EZD 1 when installing. If you already have EZD 1 installed, the pop/Rock kit will be ‘updated’ with new graphics and presets.
You can uninstall EZD 1 if you don’t want the pop/Rock kit (or the cocktail EZX if you’ve installed it).
You don’t ‘need’ your copy of EZD 1 to install EZD 2. You just need to have it registered to your Toontrack account if you purchased the EZD 1 to EZD 2 upgrade.

Good Questions!
Here’s 2 more:
1. What happens to songs that I’m working on with EZD1 that are 1/2 to 3 quarters done?
(Hmm… this may really hamper my muse if I have to learn the new EZD2 interface before continuing with my songs).
2. As I understand it any previous EZX library will work in EZD2 and get new graphics?
#2 Question answered… I found the answer in a month old post.
Still wondering what the transition from EZ1 to EZD2 will be like within a song under construction.
Personally, I never upgrade/update any software when I’m in the middle of a project.
Having said that, the ‘new’ features can be ignored while you’re working on a project that’s not finished if you upgrade. The sounds will work the same. There is still a MIDI browser and a mixer, the same as EZD 1.
You can explore the new features in a ‘trial’ project if you want without hampering you’re current workflow.

I want to keep the pop/Rock kit, does this mean I need both EZD 1 32bit and 64bit programs installed on my 64bit PC?
Currently I have EZD 1 (1.3.1) installed and I just installed EZD 2. There is a EZD 1 (1.3.3) update, should I go ahead and update EZD 1 even though I have already installed EZD 2?
The EZdrummer 2 installer should just replace the EZdrummer 1 plugin. No need to uninstall anything. You should retain your Pop/Rock kit too. No need to run the EZdrummer 1 update.

If I uninstall EZD 1 and install EZX Pop/Rock 1.5.1, how do I authorize it? It wouldn’t except my EZD 1 Computer ID. Thanks.
You Authorize it like any other product, I believe you’re mixing up Computer ID and Authorization code.

On the “My Products” page it says EZX Pop/Rock is unauthorized. When I click on “Add Computer” to authorize the product it asks for Computer-ID and Computer description. How do I authorize it? Ideally I would like to uninstall EZD 1 and install EZX Pop/Rock. I did not buy EZX Pop/Rock separately, do I still get access to it because I bought EZD 1? Is EZX Pop/Rock the same as the EZD 1 Pop/Rock? Thanks.
if you had EZdrummer 1 installed previously you will not be prompted to authorize the Pop/Rock EZX, it should just work in Ezdrummer 2.

Hi Rogue,
I’m afraid that isn’t quite right, at least, not here. My Pop/Rock EZX also showed as Unauthorized and does not appear in EZ drummer 2 at all.
I did write to Support about it and will wait patiently for an answer since I know you are swamped at the moment.
I just wanted you to know that there seem to be several of us experiencing the same problem with our Pop/Rock EZX.
Thank you,
LJ

I want to uninstall EZD 1. If I do that will I then have to install the Pop/Rock EZX?
yes, of course, the sounds from EZdrummer 1 are part of the product and will be removed.
There is no real advantage to uninstall EZD1, the plug-in part has already been replaced by the EZdummer 2 install. If you run the Pop/Rock EZX installer it will also replace the sounds for their ‘new generation’ counterpart. The only thing remaining in effect will be a couple of entries in the ‘Features and Programs’ control panel if you are a PC user.
… but feel free to do so, hopefully it should not break anything, but again it is not necessary.

Just to clarify, if the Pop/Rock sounds are a part of EZD 1, and the the Pop/Rock EZX (1.5.1 which is not an update) can not be installed after EZD 2 is installed because it would replace the sounds for their ‘new generation’ counterpart, then what is the purpose of the Pop/Rock EZX?
