Dialing in some drums for a prog rock project.

Hey guys I am new here so feel free to let me know if this is the area to post a question like this.

I am doing vocals for a prog rock band called City of Urchins and am helping to produce our upcoming release using SD 2.0 for the drums. I only have experience dialing them in for a prog metal/djent style and am looking more for a Mars Volta drum style. Anyone have experience setting up a kit for something like that? I’d appreciate anyone who has input for doing it with the avatar kit, but I might be down to purchase a sample pack or a preset if some of you guys think that would help me along.

Helpful tip: If you could link to an example of the drum sound you’re after it might help you to get some insights from those who are unfamiliar with Mars Volta.

Here is a link. To me these drums sound different than the prog/djent stuff, but who knows, maybe there more alike than I think and the difference is all in my head! Any help dialing in a similar drum sound to this would be much appreciated!!!
