In the Track menu (top left above the song track), you’ll find “Edit Tempo…” and “Edit Time Signature…”, in those modes you can edit the tempo and signature 🙂

If you use a DAW/Host (Cubase, Logic or similar) and have Follow Host enabled, Superior Drummer 3 will follow the tempo set in the host automatically – including tempo changes in the song.

I’m having an issue with this….there is part in my song where tempo is automated …SD3 skips over this part and thus dis aligns from the song

What do you mean by “skips over”? If within a DAW, the only real way it would skip over the timeline in the track is if the DAW sent an incorrect song position pointer to SD3 (and Follow Host is enabled). Are you also using a tempo map in your DAW? If so, you may need to either remove it or export the MIDI to your DAW and disable Follow Host, letting the DAW handle SD3’s MIDI.

it happens when the song changes tempo, the tempo is automated in ableton

when the tempo changes in ableton….SD3 is automatically recognizing this tempo change and skips over a measure, thus dis aligning and becoming out of sync with abelton

and yes , follow host is enabled, I’ve never exported midi to the daw but I’ll try it

So you’re saying that this is what happens when you have a tempo change within your song? You always have to export midi to daw for it to work?

    Hi,

any “skipping” shouldn’t happen when the host changes tempo. Which version number is displayed in the SD3 interface? Which version of Ableton?

Exporting the MIDI from the SD3 Song Track is as easy as lasso-selecting all MIDI blocks on the Song Track and dragging them to your SD3 track.
Don’t forget to disable ‘Follow Host’ if you do.

    it does indeed happen

Not sure what you’re saying when you mention exporting sd3 midi from sd3 track …..into sd3 track …?

I’m using ableton 10 and Sd3 newest version

This is happening via real audio drums which I’ve already  consolidated and imported into sd3

sd3 midi (which like I mentioned has been created via a real audio track that I’ve imported into sd3) is dis aligning from the real drums audio which remains outside of sd3 …in my daw…ableton.

this did alignment between the real audio inside ableton, and the midi drums in sd3 happens when the tempo of the song changes in ableton.

what’s happening is sd3 is literally just jumping forward, a measure or so and then continuing to play from there, out of sync with the real audio inside ableton.

also just to be clear, I need to know EXACTLY what I need to do to get this to worl please, do i need to export the audio to mid and drag into the song block seciton to get this to work?

    Hi pat,

I am very sorry I missed all your posts.
So to recap, you have audio files that you have loaded in the SD3 Tracker, which you have exported to your SD3 Song Track.
When you then play the timeline in Ableton, the MIDI on the SD3 Song Track isn’t syncing properly because of Tempo/Time sig changes.

Did you try to export a MIDI file (it doesn’t really matter what’s in it) from Ableton to use as a Tempo map in the Tracker and the SD3 Song Track?
Both have an option to Import a Tempo map from a MIDI file.

Exporting MIDI from the SD3 Song Track is either done by the Track’s Menu – Export Song as MIDI File – or by selecting at the MIDI on the Song Track and drag to the Ableton track where SD3 is inserted.

BTW, which version number is displayed in the SD3 plug-in window (lower left corner)?

    BR,
    John
