Hi
This is more or less solved except for a problem of latency-sound-image synchronization with the drums I had before the last update
but, what must be done to avoid garageband-midi pad controller lockups
is to revert – to come back to last 2.1.8 version by a line code given by Toontrack
And don’t take the latest version with Mac OS Big Sur (for me, it blocked, garage band crashed and froze (wheel spinning endlessly))

Hello, I’m glad to have found your post. I recently bought a MacBook Pro 2019, brand new. All well, except when working in Logic. After time with Apple support and a Logic Specialist, we narrowed down the problem to EZ Drummer. The very same music project on my iMac runs with no issues, though on the iMac I have not yet installed the latest updates of EZ Drummer. So using 2.1.8 on the iMac, all runs well. Of course having installed Product Manager on the new MacBook, I installed the only version available 2.2.0 which has been a spinning beachball nightmare. Both computers have Big Sur installed. May I ask how you got back to 2.1.8? I see no option for doing so in the Product Manager. Thank you.
Hi Chris,
the instructions from Support x_name x is referring to would be:
“Please open Terminal (in Applications > Utilities) and paste the following command there:
sudo — bash -c ‘pkgutil –forget com.toontrack.ezdrummer.aax.pkg; pkgutil –forget com.toontrack.ezdrummer.vst.pkg; pkgutil –forget com.toontrack.ezdrummer.au.pkg; pkgutil –forget com.toontrack.ezdrummer.app.pkg’
Then press Return.
It will prompt you for a password, so type your computer/admin password (which will be invisible) and press Return again.
Then download the version 2.1.8 software UPDATE – there’s no need to download the full installer – and select Install from the menu to the right of the download button for 2.1.8. It is important you click the menu to the right of the download and select “Install” once the download completes.”
Following the instructions correctly is key, IOW Terminal first, then open the Product Manager and download the 2.1.8 update and run it via the small menu to the right of the Download button.

Hi,
Does this solution work for version 3.0.6, in combination with a MacOS Big Sur version 11.7.10 on a 2013 MacBook Pro. I mean the pasting the provided code in terminal as shown in John Rammelt’s post. Should I revert back to version 2.1.8 as well?
My problem: I get intermittently midi signal recognition, while still recognizing my E-drums (Alesis Crimson). Short after connection was lost, I saw a short notification in EzDrummer right corner on an Audio Engine that was unavailable, or something similar.
Some help would be appreciated, thanks.
HiRudy5678,
the OP had problems with EZdrummer 2, so I would say your problems are not related.
I would suggest you start a new thread where you also list your hardware MIDI connection and if this is the standalone or as a plug-in in a host.

John
