I know the feeling. I added another pad and found myself just waiting until I used a preset to add it.

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

I think what you two are asking for would bang into the same systemic thing that makes it impossible to select a preset from say Death and Darkness while one is in the core library/Rooms of Hansa/etc.  Adding a physical pad is relatively easy as all you’d have to do is to make the change in the MIDI preset you’re using but then manually make the change in each preset to use the new one.

While I concur it’s ‘easy’, the point is why not allow loading to all presets using the same instrument/midi assignment. Either way, you have to go add it to each one. In most cases I will likely stick with the same cymbal with a few variations. Then if I decide I want to switch it up on a kit or two, that’s easy peasy. the note is already correct. but at least you don’t have to spend hrs everytime you add an instrument.

Please clarify something for me – are you talking about adding another physical pad or something like another crash cymbal from SD3?

In my case I was adding a physical pad. I had loads of presets setup before I got the extra pad. I don’t want the same instrument on every kit but I would want the same midi note. As it stands I just add manually which is a pain.
