I currently have an Alesis DM5. I was using that for a while with my Hart Prodigy eKit to play EZdrummer. Worked well for what I was doing. Lately I haven’t had space to keep the eKit setup, so it’s in the garage.
But come Spring, I’m going to set it up again. I don’t use any of the sounds in the DM5. I simply use it as a trigger machine to pass MIDI on to Pro Tools and EZD. I’d like to see it and get a Trigger I/O instead. With the current used market, I can probably come out of the deal with $50 in my pocket. That goes toward the JAZZ EZX.
So… anyone know much about the Alesis Trigger I/O? I was reading it’s trigging/midi capabilities might actually be better than the DM5, as it’s a more recent piece of gear.
I will also at some point be getting Superior 2.0 (just haven’t gotten around to it yet), and I’ll be using this Trigger I/O with my Hart eKit for that too.
In a nutshell, I’m looking for the cheapest way to bridge my eDrums into Pro Tools. The Trigger I/O looks like it’s the ticket.
let me know! Thanks!

they work great. easy to set up and program and they work perfecftly with superior drummer 2. i had a d4 and a dm5 and the i/o blows them away as far as ease of use and programming. our drummer has 2 of them and uses sd2 live in our weekend classic rock band and they work great.
Thanks for the reply on this. I still haven’t picked up a Trigger IO, but I plan too, especially seeing as I just ordered S2.0. I’ve got to get my Hart Dynamics kit set up again (if I only had more room in my 11’x11′ studio).

Should have my Trigger IO today. Unfortunately I can’t hook it up just yet. I’m dismantling my studio room to have new carpet put in, but once it’s back together and I get my E-drums set back up, I’ll post back and tell ya’ll how the Trigger IO is working.

May I ask what settings you use with your Trigger IO? I just had to do the factory reset on mine because though it works, the velocity is all screwed up. ( I had it set up for the BFD lite that came with it)
Anyway, I play some fast stuff and it was all coming out soft and the loud hits were “jumping out” at me. I really had to bash the pads to get the loudest tone which is okay if there was some semi- loud tones in the middle.
Does that make sense?
I started with my gain set at 10 with a retrigger of 0. The snare and high hat work great but the toms had the problem above.
Superior 2.0 sounds awesome though. I can’t wait to get it tweaked right and start recording my tracks!
Thanks in Advance,
Jesse
