I just installed and played around with the 10 day free trial version of EZ Drummer 3. I didn’t think any of the beats that Bandmate suggested for the thrash metal guitar riff I dragged in, sounded like a good match. I am being realistic and not requiring the EZ Drummer 3 beat to be an exact match to what I hear in my head. But none of the ones that the free trial version suggested are good fits for the groove of this riff.
However, I am aware that this free trial version doesn’t have that many beats to offer to begin with. So, I was thinking about buying the “Thrash Metal” MIDI bundle to confirm if EZ Drummer 3 can generate the kind of beats I want, but can anyone confirm if a purchased MIDI bundle will work with the free trial version of EZ Drummer 3?
Separate but related question: in case the answer is no a purchased bundle won’t work with the free 10 day trial version, is there anyone here that is familiar with the thrash metal style beats that ToonTrack has available for EZ Drummer 3, if any of the bundles have a beat that would fit the guitar riff that I was working with, which is the opening riff to this song that I want to create my own cover of – here’s the link on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSHgTvqlSbs&list=RDQSHgTvqlSbs&start_radio=1.

If a dedicated MIDI Thrash Metal pack still doesn’t provide an exact match, at least the rhythms in the pack will be within the correct tempo and style range, allowing you to use EZ Drummer 3’s built-in editing features to tweak an approximate pattern for a perfect fit.
UPDATE: about two weeks ago, I risked $30 and purchased the Thrash Metal bundle with the hopes that it – as one of the Toon Tracks bundles – was compatible with the 10 day trial version of Easy Drummer 3. Luckily for me it was compatible. However, it was cumbersome to use in the following way: the automated feature in EZ Drummer 3 that selects beats in the library that match the guitar riff the user provides, did not pull any from the extension pack. So I had to manually select beats from this extension pack to trial them against the guitar riff I had created. So long story short, it did work, but required some manual effort.
I figured this information would be helpful to ToonTrack community forum members in case someone else has the same question that I did.
