Hi there,
I’ve just upgraded to Superior Drummer 3 and the application always crashes on startup, both standalone and as an instance inside REAPER. I’m running Windows 11, i9-12900k, 64GB RAM. I’ve downloaded all the necessary files from the Toontrack Download Manager.
Standalone, the application opens to the main screen for a couple seconds then self-exits. In REAPER, when I load the plugin, REAPER crashes. Please let me know what could be the issue here. Thanks.
Hi Jarod,
I suspect that you will need help from Toontrack Support directly to retrieve logs, etc. Do you get the option to locate crash dumps?
Did you install Reaper with the ‘Configure Windows to save REAPER crash dumps’ option? If so, a dump file should be created in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps (Start->Run, paste that path in there).
Have you yet opened a Ticket with Support?
BR,
John

Thanks for the response. I’ve sent a ticket which includes those crash dump files (standalone and within REAPER), so thanks for directing me to that!
If the crash dump files would be relevant here, I’m happy to post them, otherwise I’ll let the support ticket handle it.
Thanks, Support will be better at looking into those dump files.

Hi,
are we talking about the exact same thing as the OP, with Reaper and Standalone?
What have you tried? Did you retrieve crash dumps? Have you opened a Support Ticket?
BR,
John

Thanked by: BradI have the same problem – Superior Drummer 3.4.1. stand-alone is crashing shortly after startup under Windows 11 (about 5 seconds after it appears on the screen). No other applications running.
However, Inside of Studio One Pro v7.2, Superior Drummer v3.4.1 plug-in works fine.
I ran the installer for v3.4.1 again but it didn’t do much – it seems to have found it was already installed and didn’t attempt to overwrite it.
Do I uninstall and reinstall? Just concerned that every studio session I have that uses it will get disrupted in the process.
Tried to attach dumpfile but when I hit “Submit” it says the .DMP file is too big.

Superior Drummer 3 version: 3.4.1
Operating system: Windows 11
I would try uninstall and re-installing. That’s an odd one.

Such crashes (only in standalone and at startup) are usually caused by an ASIO driver.
