    Dear all,

I have the update from ez drum 2 to ez drum 3. Nice but I have a problem. When I’m working on Cakewalk’s Sonar, the ez drum 3 freezes. I can still hear it, but I can’t do anything anymore. I can no longer press settings in sonar and you can’t see the kick drum pedal moving either. I then have to close Sonar and re-enter standalone settings in Ez drum 3 because they are out. I have an ASIO audio interface from Roland Octa Capture. If I want to put the Octa Capture back to stand alone in the settings, I get the message. Cannot find a device. Please connect the device. And that’s how it always goes when I’m working on a project.
I hope you have the solution because it is very annoying to keep stopping and restarting everything.
Thank you very much for your help.

    Yours sincerely,
    Peter de Haas20240805_165016

Are you using Sonar and EZDrummer 3 standalone at the same time? Are you able to use EZDrummer as a plug-in within Sonar ok?

    Hi,

Your question,  Are you using Sonar and EZDrummer 3 standalone at the same time?  NO

Are you able to use EZDrummer as a plug-in within Sonar ok?  YES.  With ez drummer 2 there where no problems. But Ez drum 2 you don’t set the settings in standalone so that is maybe the problem. When i am working in Sonar the standalone can not hold the settings. I don’t use the standalone ofcourse when i am in Sonar using the ez drum 3. But after a short time ez drum 3 will freeze and i don’t know why. I have installed ez drum 3 again and again. And the driver from octa capture also again and again. but the same problems stay.

    Thanks

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for the information. I still have EZD2 installed on one of my systems, and for sure the settings for audio/MIDI are available in the standalone. Of course they are not in either plug-in version as that configuration is set up in whatever DAW you’re using.

How much RAM does your system have? Is there any antivirus software running on your machine and can you try disabling it and see if the plug-in still freezes up. Does the entire DAW stop working or just the EZD3 plug-in?

    Hi all,

Thank you for your answer. You are right, ez drummer 2 also has settings in it. My RAM is 32 GB and 64 bit and system 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11400F @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz. I indeed use many antivirus programs, VPN antitrack and Internet security. Your question: Does the entire DAW stop working or just the EZD3 plug-in? Only ez drum 3 stops working. You can still hear him. But you can’t adjust anything anymore. I will try to work without antitrack virus protection in Sonar my DAW. Finally, I’ll show you a picture of my settings in library path. I can’t adjust it either because it says: To change the path then you have to close ezdrum3. But how can I change that without being in ezdrum3 of the standalone of course.
    Thank you,

    Greetings
    Peter

Good morning Peter (Canada west coast),

You shouldn’t need to change the library location settings once they’ve been installed, unless you’re physically moving all your EZD libraries to another drive or folder. In that case, you would save your session in Sonar and shutdown Sonar, move your EZD library in windows explorer and start Sonar (or EZD standalone, which will accomplish the same thing). When EZD starts up you will receive a message that it can’t find any sample libraries and allow you to navigate to the new location. Sorry that’s a very long winded explanation.
Are trying to move your library?
Why are trying to change the settings? Has disabling antivirus stopped the plug-in from freezing?

    Hello,

Thanks for your answer. I understand that the library path is correct. I wasn’t sure hence my photo as a question. I still have to test whether EZdrum3 continues to work without antivirus enabled. Let’s hope so. I’ll let you know of course.

    Greetings

    Hi,

Unfortunately, disabling all virus programs did not have the right effect. Things quickly went wrong, it also got stuck with bandmate, which generally worked well. I don’t know anymore either. EZdrum3 is a nice program but unfortunately it doesn’t work for me. Maybe you have a good idea of what else I can try. In any case, thanks for your help.
