a feature request to have the “stem” export updated to be one per instrument (and mono or stereo as appropriate) or at least better groupings. as a note: “stems” typically are groupings like “bass”, “drums”, “vocals”, “guitars”, whereas the “stem” export in EZD3 is really “partially individual tracks” and really should be full individual mono tracks except things like OH, ambience, etc which are typically stereo. this avoids (me at least) from having to convert things to mono, and also trying to separate shakers and cowbells from the kick drum etc…
for example, following typically commonly used “drum mic’ing techniques”:
so basically instead of stereo tracks, on close mic’d instruments – single mono tracks, and overheads – stereo & preferably phase aligned with the rest of the kit. in doing so, you would have (based on the image example) between 16-18 tracks, 2 or 3 would be stereo and the rest mono.
one example to check on (assuming SD doesn’t do it) is Additive Drums 2 where i can output each instrument to its own track (20 or so on a given kit) plus a few stereo options like OH, Room (“ambience”), Buss (a subset), and Master (total sum of all)

Hi Glenn,
while I would like to point out that you can indeed be pretty creative with assigning the mixer outputs (I assume you haven’t explored this, since you seem to think that the automatic groupings per output “stem” is set) and muting/panning in EZdrummer 3, running more than one pass of the Export and splitting Stereo files into Mono; what you are asking for is a Superior Drummer 3 feature. Or sort of, you do not Bounce per Instrument but per microphone channel. IOW, mono microphones become mono audio files and stereo mics become stereo audio files. This is more like an actual recording situation, getting one audio file per microphone, pre the SD3 mixer, with the added options to:
– force enable all bleed or bounce with just the enabled in the mixer
– split OH close instruments
– split close mic from bleed
– split Stereo microphones into L/R mono files
You can of course also Bounce through the SD3 Mixer, EZdrummer 3 style, and get a file per mixer output instead (16 Stereo available)

Thanked by: Glenn Stantonthanks! no, i have not tried adjusting the outputs in EZD, but i did look at the SD3 features and realized that to get the full capability it’s likely an upgrade to SD would be desirable. when i get a chance i’ll play around with the output setting.

thanks! i saw this late yesterday when i was creating a new drum track. once i’m happy with it i’ll play around with exporting individual instruments for the mix steps.
