Across all drumkits in EZDrummer 3, I’m having the same problem – the rack tom and 2nd floor tom rims are triggering cymbal chokes, while the rim of floor tom 1 is triggering the higher tom. I have no idea how to change this. I can’t even tell if toms in EZDrummer 3 have rim samples, let alone how to access them. Can someone help me?

Thank you for responding. I’m not really sure…I assume I am…I didn’t do any special mapping. Is this an issue of using the TD27 Midi In Preset?
Same issue. I finally tune some great set, then I play and rims are cymbal chokes, almost all the time. I know how to fix it as far as mapping, but is there a preset I am missing, or you are missing?

Hi there,
Go to Settings > E-Drums/MIDI In > Roland > TD27

Oh, yes – I did do that. But I am getting those weird rim triggers with that setting in place. Do you have an idea what I can do to make it stop? I assumed the default would be rim samples!
Page 41 in the manual. Simply change the outgoing midi note to whatever you wish.

Thank you for responding! I will look at the manual. So is the idea that the TD27, for some reason, is actually telling EZD 3 to put the cymbals on the tom rims?!
You’re about to find out. I have no clue what your settings in your td27 are.

I have the same issue and there are no specific “special changes” or anything different I am doing. I would like to know how to end this cymbal/rim problem as well. Every set I create or just “click” on, has cymbal choke on every tom rim.
..or just manually remap the note in EZD. There’s Midi Learn and a field where you can just type whatever note you want. Settings>Edrums>LeftPanel>Mapping. Edit there.

I guess the thing I’m not understanding (I’m sorry I’m a bit of a luddite!) …does EZD 3 have drum rim samples? Like, where would I find those sound samples to map them to the region?
Yes… Settings>Edrums>LeftPanel>Mapping. Edit there. Literally says “Rim Only”.
You should try looking at that panel I’ve mentioned. It’s all right there.

Thanked by: Brad and BradleyHartIt’ no big deal. You’ll get use to the workflow and it will be simple. You can fix your issue in a few seconds with EZD3’s Midi Learn, or in a few minutes by remapping your td27.

Thanked by: BradHey, Shootie –
Because you’ve been so helpful (I have figured out the mapping/rim stuff, thank you so much), I’m wondering if I can ask you another question: I have started to put together custom presets from various kits across the different rooms (cymbals from the tight room, snare and toms from the medium room, etc…) but I can’t figure out how to have those kits NOT have preset reverbs on them. Am I missing something?
