Do you have an edrum preset applied? Have you changed any mappings within sd3 on the main page. To check you have the midi out of sd3 enable and using this as an input to another track?

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

No MIDI In / edrum preset applied.

I haven’t changed any mappings on the main page that I’m aware of. Is there a way to reinstate default settings just in case?

I do have MIDI Out selected and using it as the input on the desired track.

I could be wrong but the edrum preset will change the mapping as that is its purpose. Try default that and see if it works.

    Hi there,

Just trying to replicate the issue. So want to get it right.

When you preview a groove from the groove browser in SD3, the MIDI goes via Chorder in Studio One to another drum VI and sounds proper.

When you take the same groove and drag it to a song track in SD3, the instruments in the other drum VI do not trigger properly. Yes?

How you worded it it looked like you said no midi preset but then edrum preset applied. Obviously I read it wrong

I sometimes use MIDI out to other drum VIs. I use Studio One’s Chorder on the 3rd party drum VI to translate SD3’s output. (I still wish SD3 would sync its MIDI in and out.)

Playing patterns triggers the 3rd party drum VI as expected. But when I add patterns to the Song Track, the mapping is not the same. On something I’m working on now, the hats & cymbals are off, triggering toms. The kick and snare trigger as expected. There have been other times where everything is off and nothing is triggered as expected.

But when I drag the MIDI to the 3rd party drum VI track in my DAW, everything is fine again. Great, but it removes my favorite SD3 feature from the equation; the Song Track and Edit Play Style.

What could be happening to the MIDI output between the pattern and Song Track? Might there be a setting I inadvertently changed?

    Hi there,

Sorry for the delay, mountain biking season on the west coast…. I don’t have a solution, at least not yet, but I have replicated the issue…. it seems that when a song is played from the SD3 song track Chorder is for some reason bypassed. I am testing with SD3 and Presonus Impact.

Will try mucking about with it tomorrow….

I have tried to resolve the issue and am unable to. The only thing I could suggest is remapping in the 3rd party drum VI and if that is not possible try contacting Toontrack Support.
