Reaper is the way to go… free evaluation period… then you can register for $60 which includes free updates for at least a couple years… for example if you register today, version 6.25,  you’ll be good thru version 8.99… There’s a huge community to draw from for help too… It’s awesome, check it out!

Reaper is a great choice when budget is the priority. Studio One has a limited affordable version which EZD2 will work. FL Studio is very affordable with lifetime updates, buy once, own for life. I’m a pro Tools guy, and I grind my teeth yearly when I have to renew, it’s pricey.

As long as your computer specs meets the interface’s needs, it’s rare that a modern interface has any compatibility issues.

    Enjoy your new DAW!

Another vote for Reaper!  I’m a relative “Newbie” myself when it comes to DAW home recording and have had little trouble learning and working with Reaper.  I also purchased EZ Drummer2 and it works perfectly with Reaper – no issues at all.  One thing I looked for when deciding on recording software was availability of instructional videos as I relied heavily on them to get started.  Reaper has a full library of well done tutorial videos on their site in addition to what you’ll find on YouTube.

Reaper gets my vote, but if you want truly free look at Cakewalk by Bandlab.  It used to be a Cakewalk product called Sonar before the brand was dissolved and once upon a time it cost several hundred dollars, but is free now.

Cakewalk is professional, and in spite of being free, it is still under continuous development.

    Garageband  is free and fabulous

you can’t imagine all you can do : it’s a genius

all the sounds are fabulous especially the synth, horns, pianos etc.

I don’t need any guitar pedalboard except for the lead tones cos’ all the effets, delay, reverbs and  eq  are awesome and so easy to use

but if you create 50 tracks, it won’t be a  fast loading

the drum section is correct for multiple styles except jazz, reggae, metal, bossa  and some more but you can add what you want with ezd2 and with more notes where you want

you can change the pitch too, add some volume changes , fade out  etc.

it’s easier than programming ezx with the files for the music

You like drums, iconic sounds and drum plugins ?
