Since it’s my first post to the forum, I’ll add few lines to introduce myself. I’m a bass player of couple Finnish metal bands and during the COVID-chaos (and cancellation of all gigs) I decided to start my own solo-project, something I had dreamt about for years. I have recorded many albums with professional engineers but I really want to learn to record/mix/master good sounding material myself because of two things: time and money. I want to keep releasing singles instead of EP’s or albums so I want to work with my songs when I have the time plus hiring a professional engineer to mix/master would simply cost too much.
I outsourced the mix/mastering of my debut EP (and one upcoming single is also mixed by my friend who is a professional) but I decided to check alternatives and BOOM, there was Toontrack! I watched videos and listened samples and I was very impressed. I got EZDrummer 2 and EZMix and as my first song I recorded a cover of something that fits the holiday spirit: Jingle Bells! I can already hear things that I will do differently in the future songs but you gotta start from somewhere.
