Apologies in advance; I know a lot has been said about what happens with SD2.0 at the end of the year, but I’m still a bit confused….

3. For the SW and the SDX Expansions should I always use the downloads? Are the discs no longer needed?
4. Can some explain with the SW downloads, am I downloading the installer? Do I use what I download to then install the product and if so should I then store the downloaded installer somewhere?
5. When I download the SDX’s, do I need to download them to the location where they will remain or can they be moved after download?
6. And do they need to be on the same drive as the SW?
7. If I only do 2 channel work, should I totally ignore parts 3 and 4 of the SD3.0 library and not even bother downloading them?
8. Can anyone point me to more info about how the Authorizations work?

Sorry for all the questions but my head is swimming with all of this!

I will try my best to answer with what I know (You could probably write a book on what I don’t know….)

1. I run SD 2.0 and SD3 on the same machine. I don’t see that changing in the foreseeable future. (That being said, once you start using SD3 you probably won’t do anything new with SD2.
2. Probably, but I can’t say for sure. Download it now and keep the installation file.
3. Downloads are usually the latest general release so personally I would use the Product Manager.
4. Good question. Yes you are downloading an installer. I do keep them on an “offline” disk for safekeeping.
5. For SDXs you can download and install and then move them (intact) to another location. Use the settings> Libraries in SD3 and navigate to the new location. (You can search for that on the forum as “how to move SDXs” has been asked many times.
6. No. I have all my SDX’s on an external SSD.
7. I actually found some of the mic channels in the “surround” libraries quite useful in a 2:1 environment. YMMV.
