Hello Guys,
I recently bought EZDrummer2 (EZD) and I have it installed in my MacBook Pro. and I am having some issues with the following:
1. For starters, I am not a sound engineer, therefore I don’t know how to work on any of these audio software for studios and recording.
2. I own an inexpensive Medeli 512 edrum, very similar to an Alesis DM7. In fact the controllers are pretty much the same
3. When I connect EZD with the edrum and I am playing, EZD tents to freeze and nothing happens. It’s been happening more than a few time and it is becoming very annoying.
4. There is virtually no information on signal mapping using Mac. I like to assign some different sounds to the drum kits, but I can’t. Can somebody explain it like if you are going to teach a 4 year old. As I said I am not a sound engineer. I just watched a video on Additive Drums video in YouTube and it show how easily can a generic edrum module like the one I have be mapped.
I am looking forward to receiving your kind response on the matter exposed.
best regards,
Manuel Gutierrez

Hi,
first I would like to know which version number is displayed in the EZdrummer 2 plugin interface.
Next, which OS version are you on?
If you enter the Settings > Audio/MIDI Setup, what are your Audio Device and MIDI Device settings?
In the Menu in the right upper corner of the interface, you can go to Settings > E-drums and select a MIDI Mapping Preset. I suspect one of the Generic ones will do.
If you by signal mapping mean learning MIDI notes for drums by hitting your pads, it is not an EZdrummer 2 feature but a Superior Drummer 3 feature.
If you on the other hand mean switching sounds, there is the Orange Preset drop down menu at the top of the interface and then each drum has got a small drop down property box where you can switch out individual sounds or load kits.
BTW, did you check out the Toontrack YouTube channel?

John

Thank you for your answer John.
1. first I would like to know which version number is displayed in the EZdrummer 2 plugin interface.
Where and How do I find that information?
2. Next, which OS version are you on?
Mac OS High Sierra Version 10.13.3
3. If you enter the Settings > Audio/MIDI Setup, what are your Audio Device and MIDI Device settings?
Audio Device is Core Audio and MIDI Device Settings is e-drum
4. In the Menu in the right upper corner of the interface, you can go to Settings > E-drums and select a MIDI Mapping Preset. I suspect one of the Generic ones will do.
It doesn’t do anything
5. If you by signal mapping mean learning MIDI notes for drums by hitting your pads, it is not an EZdrummer 2 feature but a Superior Drummer 3 feature.
Yes, I mean signal mapping. what you need to do in your website is to publish a comparison chart between EZD and SD and list each feature and what each software can do. I see that as poor advertisement and lack of information towards the user.
6. If you on the other hand mean switching sounds, there is the Orange Preset drop down menu at the top of the interface and then each drum has got a small drop down property box where you can switch out individual sounds or load kits.
According to this picture, show me how do I select the Sidestick sound to play with my e-drum.
Thank you.

Where and How do I find that information?
In the lower right-hand corner. I can see from your screen shot that you are indeed running the latest version.
3. If you enter the Settings > Audio/MIDI Setup, what are your Audio Device and MIDI Device settings?
Audio Device is Core Audio and MIDI Device Settings is e-drum
Ok, so you are using the internal sound of the MacBook Pro? What are your Buffer Size settings?
I presume you are running your internal sound card @44100kHz? You can check this in the Audio/MIDI Setup in Applications>Utilities.
4. In the Menu in the right upper corner of the interface, you can go to Settings > E-drums and select a MIDI Mapping Preset. I suspect one of the Generic ones will do.

Elaborate please. Does your mapping work relatively well? Does the HH work as it should? Is there any difference when you play your kit and have no MIDI mapping applied and e.g. the Alesis or Generic CC HH?
5. If you by signal mapping mean learning MIDI notes for drums by hitting your pads, it is not an EZdrummer 2 feature but a Superior Drummer 3 feature.

A comparison chart between EZdrummer 2 and Superior 3 isn’t available, only between Superior 2 and Superior 3. However, the FAQ states that the E-drum Presets can’t be edited and customised:
https://www.toontrack.com/faq/can-i-use-ezdrummer-2-with-e-drums/
6. If you on the other hand mean switching sounds, there is the Orange Preset drop down menu at the top of the interface and then each drum has got a small drop down property box where you can switch out individual sounds or load kits.

Well, you can’t Learn or Edit the position and/or Note Number. Which note is sent from the module when you play your Sidestick?
You can monitor what is sent with the Instrument Properties open and ‘Details’ expanded on the Snare.
