Mixing with SD

I need help with my drums. They sound lifeless and small. I tried adding ambient mics but that just gave it a UHaul sound.
I’m using metal foundry with xd snare from avatar. I really like Gojiras kit on they’re latest record.
Any comments will be helpful

You have got very close to Gojiras sound, better than you may feel with tight dry and upfront sound.
Too easy to be hard on yourself and focused on singular elements at certain point of production as we all know.
You also have no vocal in your mix drawing attention to drums and any shortfall they may have.

SO maybe its too clean or dry from a compression point of view and just to bring the character out, some say in your face. I do not think you are far off.
A bit more of the right “Vibe” from Limiting/Comp is perhaps all you need to bring them to life.
A perfectly Squashed but musical tone can emphasize with that final touch of Attitude
I got Lil Labs Fatso by Universal Audio for that reason it Squash and adds life.
