I just installed EZdrummer 2 from the latest update in my user account. However, when I select the EZdrummer plugin in Pro Tools 10, it brings up EZdrummer 1. EZd 2 works as a standalone and in Logic but it does not show up in Pro Tools. I can see the plugin in the folder Application Support -> Digidesign -> Plug Ins…it has the same date stamp as the Component and VST (Sep 5, 2014).
Not sure exactly why I’m seeing EZD 1 in PT and EZD 2 everywhere else. Any ideas?
Hi,
your EZdrummer 1 in Pro Tools 10 would be 32-bit RTAS, while the Standalone and AU would EZdrummer 2 64-bit.
Anyways, please navigate to your ‘Digidesign/Plug-Ins’ folder and manually delete the ‘ezdrummer.dpm’ file and then re-run the 2.0.2 EZdrummer 2 update.

Thanks, but that did not work. I deleted the EZdrummer.dpm file from Library -> Application Support -> Digidesign -> Plug-Ins and then re-ran the 2.0.2 update. The “Date Modified” is showing Sep 5, 2014 (same as the date modified in the VST folder) so it should be the correct one. However, when I load it onto an instrument track in PT, it comes up as the original EZdrummer version 1.3.2.
Anything else I can try? Pro Tools is my main DAW so I would really like to get this working.

But that should be impossible? Have you emptied your Trash in between?
With Pro Tools shut down, manually delete any ‘ezdrummer’ file in your ‘Plug-Ins’ folder and empty your Trash.
Re-install the 2.0.2 update and launch Pro Tools.

I did empty the trash after I deleted the .dpm and PT was closed at the time. I’ll take a screenshot tonight to show you.
Maybe I will try to reinstall Pro Tools and see if that works.
This is starting to piss me off. I’ve uninstalled EZD 2 multiple times…tried just deleting the .dpm file from my plug-ins folder…and nothing has worked. EZD 1 is still opening up in Pro Tools. I’m on the latest version of PT 10 and downloaded the most recent update of EZD in my Toontrack account.
Here is a screenshot showing EZD 2 standalone and then EZD within PT. I’m starting to feel like I wasted my money since PT is my main DAW and I cannot even use this plug-in there. Any other suggestions?
PT 10 also introduced the AAX folder HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins. Could you please make sure the EZD1 plug-in is not in that folder.

Tried that too. I’m at a loss.
Hi,
since Pro Tools is one of the DAWs where you cannot have Custom folders for plugins, what you are describing should be impossible.
Please make sure that Pro Tools is shut down, you delete any ‘ezdrummer’ files in both ‘Plug-Ins’ folders;
{Mac HD}/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins
{Mac HD}/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins
and then launch Pro Tools.
It would be very interesting to know whether you still can open EZdrummer in Pro Tools without having re-installed any version.

So, i too was having problems with using EZ Drummer 2 in PT 10 and followed these exsct same instructions and now I only have the basic ez drummer and can’t redownload my upgrade purchase that i bought through Musicians Friend. When i log on there was 1 update and I updated it but wasn’t compatible with my PRo Tools so after i deleted the suggested files from this thread now my account says i am only able to update an older version and even that basic one won’t load in to protools either. And the ‘contact’ customer service page doesn’t even work?? Why does my account not recognize my last purchase?
Hi deviltone,
you do not have anything but EZdrummer 1 registered to your account tied to this email address. If you have another account tied to another email address, you should contact Toontrack Support directly, so that they can merge your accounts.

contact support page from that link is ‘greyed out’ and doesnt work. its actually blurred out, you cant even read nor fill out any form. I tried this on 4 different computers and all the same thing.
anyhow, the computer i upgraded to EZdrummer2 from was the same one i originally bought ezdrummer from, and nothing has changed, but maybe after adding a wifi extender (Google wifi) ? whatever ever the case, i might have to merge my 2 accounts but i cant even get to the form to do that becuase the form page from this link https://www.toontrack.com/faq/how-do-i-contact-support/ doesnt even work.
I would attach a screen shot of what the contact blurred out link looks like, but the insert/image doesnt work either. its asking me for a source? and type of image and size? well, i added that info and it gave me this.
i was able to log in to my ezdrummer2 account that was registered under another email/password on my desk top office computer, however i can’t gain access to log on with the web browsers I am using on my laptop (Safari or Firefox) that is dedicated to recording only. I cant update MacOS becuase if I do it will no longer talk and be compatible with my Pro Tools 10 nor my interface. I cleared all of the cookie/cache etc. but still doesnt work.
When I open the Product Manager on my laptop there is no way to log out and back in to my EZ Drummer 2 account. Toontracks should offer a way to merge my 2 accounts from the Product Manager. The only thing that gives you is access to download updates etc. but no way to log out and log back in under a different account. Since none of the functions from the Toontrack website works with my (probably outdated) browers with my OS, how can I merge my 2 accounts if I can’t even access the customer service form not matter what computer I’m trying to access it from?
What I need to do is get my EZdrummer 2 back on to my laptop but the Product Manager only recognizes my other/older EZdrummer basic account.
Would I be able to download it to my desk top and use a thumbdrive to transfer it over to my recording laptop?
OK. so I was finally able to log on through an old password link from Firefox browser and download everything again. Still unable to insert EZ Drummer 2 in to Protools 10 though. What got me in trouble the last time was reading this thread saying to ‘delete’ the ‘ezdrummer.dpm’ and the re-run the update. Well, when I deleted that file, it deleted EVERYTHING in regards to EZ Drummer 2, then had the problem of not being able to log in to my account because my browsers are only as good/updated as my OS. Since I cant update my OS, my browsers are not up to date. (Unless I want to buy a new interface, and PT’s, which makes no sense since my system runs well as is)
OK, so at least I have EZ rummer 2 installed again. Now what do I do to get Pro Tools 10 to recognize it? When I start PT’s up I get a pop-ip that says Protools doesnt recognze EZDrummeraax and asks me if I want to keep it some type of folder.
Please advise.
Thanks.
Hi,
you really need to get your accounts merged. Please check that your browser isn’t blocking pop-ups from Toontrack.com, alternatively try another browser.
Manually deleting the RTAS .dpm cannot possibly have erased everything related to EZdrummer 2 on your hard drive, merely the plug-in file. The problem with Pro Tools 10, is that it was an interim application, preparing for the transition to 64-bit but it is still a 32-bit application.
The EZdrummer 2 AAX is 64-bit, so you need the RTAS version installed, which is 32-bit.
This means you cannot run the latest update because it drops the support for RTAS, you need the 2.1.8 version. You should be able to run the 2.1.8 Full Installer, if you really have erased everything. When you have, you should have an ezdrummer.dpm file in the ‘Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Digidesign > Plug-Ins’ folder.
Remember to Insert EZdrummer 2 on a Stereo Instrument Track, it will not be available if you try to insert it on a Mono Track.

John
