I had this issue with C5 after installing the C5 ver 5.5 update. When I rolled it (C5) back to the previous update the problem went away. I guess that leads me to believe it a Cubase issue and not Toontrack.

Cubase 5.5 has had a number of issues, to say the least. The best I can advise for the time being is to sit tight and keep watching the official Steinberg forum, right now (summer) is not really a time we can particularly be active with hosts issues I’m afraid 🙁

    Hello.
I found a way out of the problem. The EZ drummers was insertet as a instrument track i Cubsase. I Tried to insert them on a miditrack instead, now it does not chrash. This migt be the right way to run third part plugins, but C4 could run them on Instrument tracks.

    Now we knov.

Thank you for your time, and a very nice drum program

    Best regards Benny M.

I upgraded from Cubase 4LE to Cubase 5.1 then 5.5. EZD worked on all 3 on the instrument track, instrument rack, (5), and midi tracks. The only problem I had was when I installed Win7x64, (Dual Boot With XP), and Cubase 5×64. It didn’t work. After installing the 64bit Beta for EZD the problem went away. You should be able place the EDZ samples on an instrument track too.
Just curious did you use the Instrument Rack or just the Instrument Track? Also you didn’t give specs for your system. I did notice that CB5 used more resources than CB4 LE and I had some crash issues until I increased my memory and processor. I was using  P4 3.2 Ghz and 1.5gigs of ram at the time. I upgraded to a Quad Core, 6 gigs ram. Just some thoughts.
