My first post, but not a newbie to this stuff…. hi gang!
The name’s Kris, and I’ve been a drummer for many years. I watched the video with Nir Z playing in the background while the guy (I forget his name) was talking up Superior 2.0.
I am in the process of deciding what would be the best (and most cost-effective) setup to get this going.
I looked into building a custom setup (see below) or a Roland TD-9SX (the one for $2500). The custom setup seems more ideal… here it is (All prices are rounded up)
A solid Roland stand $250
TD-3 module $350 or Alesis Trigger I/O $150
Hart Dynamics 13″ snare $340
two Roland PD-85 dual-trigger pads for my toms (I play a 4-piece) – $430 total
three cymbal triggers (ideally three Roland CY8s and a CY5 for hat) $400
Roland FD-8 HH pedal $115
Cables for everything $100
(I already have the KD-8 kick trigger, and an Alesis ControlPad for triggering samples on the fly while drumming on my acoustic kit)
Custom setup is $2000 – maybe $2400 if I go with the VH11 hihat from Roland
Now, what I need to know is… what do you guys suggest? What would be best in my price range ($3000 is my limit, and that includes Superior 2.0)?
My system is a Dell duo-core, running XP… 2 gig RAM, external hard drives, two internals, etc. Soundcard is Delta 44 by M-Audio (pretty good latency overall when I’m playing VSTs/synth stuff)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
