What’s the story on Terranoct? How did you guys get together?
It started when I was 15 years old and Dan was 13. We were always jamming and writing material, which matured our songwriting and playing abilities with age. In 2013, Dan and I started the band under a different name, but in January of 2016, when Ricky and Sam joined, we knew that this lineup was simply it. They both simply exceeded our already high expectations. We went on playing some killer shows, and eventually decided to change our name to represent the evolution in the music we’ve been creating. After sifting through a few names we liked, we all mutually agreed on Terranoct.

Your music is a mix of thrash death metal. How come you ended up doing this mix of styles?
Thrash and death metal were styles we all have gravitated too for basically our whole lives, and we all listen to a lot of the same bands, like The Big 4, Testament, Exodus, Revocation, Death, Sylosis, Havok, Maiden, Priest, you name it. The palette is pretty extensive. Bands like Nevermore and Black Crown Initiate have some great extended range guitar work that we pay attention to, as well.

You’re based in Ohio, a state that raised bands and artists like The Devil Wears Prada, Chimaira, Black Veil Brides, Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson (to name a few). How is the scene for metal today?
The Ohio scene has had some pretty killer bands like Skeletonwitch and Woe of Tyrants (who are long overdue for some new material), but the scene definitely has plenty of room to grow. I personally believe people become too caught up in what the scene should be rather than simply doing what they do. Wide Eyes, Cloudkicker, and Intervoid are awesome bands everyone should definitely check out.

What’s next on the agenda for the band and what is your ultimate goal?
We’re currently working on our debut-full length, which is expected to have 11-12 tracks. Luckily, we have our own studio, so everything is DIY. We want to be sure it’s as perfect as it can possibly be, so we’re taking our time with it. I’d say it’s about 70-75% complete. Once we have everything finalized, we plan on making sure it’s heard through all of our social media platforms, word-of-mouth, live, whatever it takes.

Dream tour to be on?
Gojira, Dyscarnate, Hypocrisy, Soilwork, Jerry Lewis, Cher, Xzibit, The Iron Sheik and ABBA
