What’s the proper name for the device because I can’t find anything online? Is it a amplifier, a channel audio adapter, a sound card or something else?

I use to play music from my phone to my Yamaha while playing and it sounded great. When I try to do the something with my laptop It sound terrible, I can’t even control the volume on one device when I play sound from two differ device (Phone and Yamaha).

Very helpful thanks a lot Scott! I had it on DirectSound (direct audio out) because I was to do what you stated in (2);however, you idea (1) sounded better, easy to configure and it worked.

With option (1) I feel there’s a small lag. How to I get rid of that lag?

Is there a good external device for my laptop that can improve my direct audio output interface?
