are you using a SSD with LUNA. It all runs smooth on my iMac i9 and 16GB memory and internal 1TB SSD. All the SDX and SD3 files are on an external RAID 2TB drive because of the sheer size of them all, they take a while to load from that, but still SD3 is smooth as butter in LUNA and Logic x.

I did pay extra for the upgraded Radeon Pro Vega 48 8 GB graphics card in my iMac though.

27″ iMac i9 with 16GBmem and a 1TB SDD. I can throw anything at this and it laughs in my face 🙂 and use an UAD Arrow thunderbolt 3 audio interface, an amazing piece of tech. Works stunning with my Roland TD-17 KVX and Superior Drummer 3. with no latency i can notice at all.

Ive never known an OS release cause as many issues. No one seems to have been anywhere near ready for this one. Not saying its any single ones fault, but it needs sorted ASAP.

    • Apple need to sort issues.
    • Roland need to get on with updating their drivers and apps.
    • Others need to get their Hardware, Apps, software and plugins working with Catalina.

Im sure it will happen, just seems to taking a lot longer than usual.

Glad Im not reliant on my music for income and its just a hobby. 🙂 …but saying that, it all cost me the same amount of money as any professional and I had to save up for it all! 🙂

Does Music to the TD17 module via BlueTooth still get passed to the MAC via USB though?

I didn’t test, but I would guess not.  Enabling Generic mode bypasses the Roland driver, and I suspect it’s the driver that provides the audio-over-USB functionality.

Nope, didn’t work. Only the midi to SD3 works using the Generic USB setting. So I’m just playing the TD17 module until this is fixed. Looks like a Roland driver issue to me.

Here’s a workaround for the TD17 module — it may well work for other Roland modules as well.

Under Setup->USB, change driver mode from “VENDOR” to “GENERIC”, and power cycle the module.

This allowed MIDI events to be seen by MacOS and SD3 on my MBP.

Routing audio from MacOS to the module doesn’t work with this workaround, but you can use the audio out of your Mac instead.

I’ll try this tonight, as long as I can trigger SD3 from my TD17, I’ll be happier, for now.

Great so now I have a £1500 drum kit and a £300 piece of drum software I can’t use on my MAC together, which is why I bought both.

Im interested in this also, seems to be a lot of rock kits and I can’t find anything that really fits in with 80s tracks, mainly the toms and cymbals. Might have to get in there and build my own kit, but presets would be better?
