Get a pc. Much cheaper and more powerful. Easier and cheaper to upgrade the internals and DAW software seems to work better than on a Mac these days. I see so many Mac related problems with DAWs and SD3 than win 10 pc related issues. Of course Logic is out of the window as it’s Mac only. Good old Apple love to tie you down.
lol, no thanks. I have never had any issues with Macs, but lots with windows and I build PCs all the time.
I can still run Superior Drummer 3.0 standalone and in Logic 9.1.8 with Multiface 2 at 64 samples latency without crackling. The multi-track DAW then runs loosely at 128 samples when mixing and at 256 samples when mixing very complex projects.
Of course, you’ll be reminded that you always need the latest version.
Yes, that’s true the system has grown old with me (I’m 56) but I can still drum quite well.
the investment in new hardware made by Apple is always more expensive, you can forget about buying a new Mac Pro. 12 years ago that was a lot of money for me, but it was still affordable.
I have to think about it, if i buy something new, or play until the computer gives up the ghost. 🙂Translated with http://www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
Reply To: This is the End version: 3.1.7
Operating system: Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6)
Im 53, so Im no youngster. My old i9 iMac could run anything great. But new technology and CPUs with new instruction sets are now being used and took advantage of. Â Massive X synth from Native Interments would not work on my ole iMac as it needed a new CPU feature. If you think a new Mac is going to last you another 10 years, then its worth the upgrade price as it’s an investment.
I was lucky as I got a bit of money from my parents house that got sold, so I got a new maxed out 27″ iMac i9 with a 1TB SDD a about 5 months ago and stuck 48GB memory in it and an external 2TB SSD for Superior Drummer 3 and all the SDXs.
I do more than music on my iMac, Im a pro graphic designer. So I do Music (Logic Pro x), Graphics, 3D (Lightwave 3D) and video (Final Cut Pro) on it. This new one handles everything with ease.
and I sold my old 11 year old iMac for £600, so that helped 🙂
I did a few more really rough tests. No mixing, no levelling, just placed the preset on a track in Logic and the music on another. So I can imaging just how good these will be once I spend some time mixing and levelling everything correctly:

Leave a comment if you want, but no abuse please lol 🙂
Once my iMac reached 10 years, it was time for a new machine. Even my I9 CPU in the old one wouldn’t allow my to use new Synth software, as it had missing feature.
Sorry to say, but it’s time for you to upgrade.
Does it really dovetail with D&D well? I imagined that but if you have both do you get the best of both worlds?
Not managed to download LOR yet – have to share the home WI-FI with the kids and my wife who is still working from home but how to try it out tonight.
Reply To: The New Legacy of Rock SDX is……. version: 3.1.7
Operating system: macOS Catalina (10.15)
D&D is a bit more cleaner, punchy, snappier and modern sounding
LoR is more dirty and gritty and just sounds like the kits did back then. The relevant kits fit perfect into Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix etc etc and Im sure they will fit in well with many others through those decades.
Thats not to say you can’t still use LoR in modern productions, as I think it would add something different to a modern day track. Sometimes, drums can be too perfect and clean and sterile.
Done a few really rough quick tests here:

Now, the drumming is rubbish as its just a test and I never played these songs before. I just wanted to see how well the kit fitted into the song, and considering I didn’t do anything other than load the preset, it sounds quite good to me
It most explains why the Legacy of Rock is going to fit in perfectly with me. I have been listening to the kit demos all morning and could hear Bonzo and Mitch Mitchell come alive in them. It was very well done, which is really no surprise.

The Amber kit is very cool 🙂
Haha, mine took 7 hours to download. But it was worth it, stunning!
Â
…was refreshing their page every minute, and as soon as it come on, I hit the Buy button before the masses and the US woke up and started to download 🙂
the new Legacy of Rock is now available to buy!! …im downloading it now. 180GB!!!
Now! Let me say Im not a great drummer, I only do it for fun and enjoyment and for my music productions. So be kind to me
I just thought id share some drumming videos I put together to show how much I like the Death and Darkness SDX.
In fact just about all the videos use it, and there is a mixed array of song.
Its the Death Black Kit:

I just love the sound of the kit out of all my SDXs
Im not saying it fits into everything pert, but I like it.
Thanks.
P.S. Sorry for the legs and running shorts, I grab time after a run and before a shower. lol 🙂

Thanked by: JamesI heard changing the Mac display Colour profile to Adobe RGB fixes interface lag. But I could be wrong.

Thanked by: bobbyharlowBeen testing and flipping between Logic and LUNA. Not a massive difference. But maybe just very slight late in SD3 UI when clicking on drum parts. Really nothing to bother me at all. I presume its how LUNA renders its screen compared to Apples own Logic?
strange, let me go try mine again…….
