When downloading, don’t choose run, that didn’t work for me. Save the folder on your desktop or something. then after it’s downloaded, when opening the folder, don’t double click and then choose extract all, that didn’t work for me either. I got the 1309 message.
You have to right click the folder you downloaded and choose extract all from that list.

I’ve recently had the same thing, the 1308 error message and then the need to download. Once logged in to my account, I hit the PC red button and the download took around 13 minutes. When you say no luck, what happens?

    Hi guys,
Thanks for the posts, so let’s continue!
EZ drummer only loads when I run the program as administrator (as suggested).
I’ve restarted windows, I’ve checked to make sure there is only one ezdrummer.dll file and there is only one.

I’m not sure what I’m looking for regarding read/write. When I look at file properties, of ezdrummer.dll there’s a box that says read only, but it is unchecked.
What folders and files do I need to check and what am I looking for, or need to change?

Now sonar won’t start at all if I just double click the shortcut, I get the error message straight away. It only works in run as administrator.

    Thanks in advance.

Day three…..and well Dave it’s a pity you are in Florida and I’m in London ‘cos I would be hugging you right now! I’m not sure what FWIW means but I went to the plug in properties and checked the force stereo operation and it’s worked!! Finally. It’s been a long and fustrating road and just to help anyone else who has the same problems here’s a list of all the problems encountered on the way:

Error 1308 when loading from disc- disk is out of date download from toontrack website.

Error 1309 when installing -right click downloaded zip folder and extract all, simply going for the extract all button doesn’t work, because that’s what I did first time.

Error loading plug in message from cakewalk -first install not done correctly, as the ezdrummer.dll file was not loaded into the c.program files/toontrack path, Don’t waste a day trying to figure this out like I did but uninstall, try again, then delete and download again from toontrack site and start all over again.

Can’t find ezdrummer in VSTi- go to tools, plug in manager, vst effects find ez drummer click on properties and check configure as synth.

Now ezdrummer appears in the vsti list, nearly there, add instruments, vst plug ins, ez drummer, then there is an error message which crashes sonar- Go back to plug in properties and also check the force stereo box.

I’m sure This isn’t the end of the road, as you can imagine, I’ve lost confidence in the EZ nature of this software and am very disappointed that I’ve encountered so many problems. This has never happened with any other plug in I’ve used so I can only deduce that toontrack have still got a bit of work to do before charging ÂŁ85 for this.

On the plus side, techinical support were quick to try and help, up to a point, and the kind souls who help on these forums, rekindle my enthusaism for human nature.

    Thanks again Dave.

    Hi Dave,
thanks so much for your help, I’m feeling like I’m banging my head a brick wall here. Ok, I didn’t drag and drop ezdrummer, I went to the global menu, VST plug ins, then add folder, I then selected c/program files/toontrack to cover all bases. When I hit the scan button, I can see that ezdrummer is being scanned.

I then go to tools/plug in manager and exdrummer appears in the vst audio effects list. I’m thinking it should be VSTi in the VST instruments list. OK, so when I click on plug in properties, I also check the the configure as synth box, as well as enable plug in which is already checked.

Upon restarting sonar, ezdrummer is now in the VSTi list, but it’s not there when I go to add an instrument track, ot there when I go to insert soft synths.

    Am I getting close?

Ok the path in ezdrummer solo is c/program files/cakewalk/vst plug ins
I’ve looked and the ez drummer d.ll is there,

This path exists in my vst plug ins also. I have removed the toon track path. Now I can find ezdrummer in add instruments, vst plug ins, sounds good.
However when I click on it I get a message that a fatal error has occured and Sonar crashes.

    Head…Wall…

    Thanks Dave, any ideas?

I have this listed in my sonar

Windows 7, Intel i7 2.8 ghz, 4gb Ram, 500 GB hard drive, T.C Electronics twin Impact sound card ASIO, 44.1 khz sample rate.

Another day gone and still no luck with ezdrummer. However, some progress of sorts. After many uninstalls and reinstalls, I can now start sonar with no error message. I’ve been to my plug in in manager and have told it where to look for EZdrummer. However, ez drummer only appears in the VST effects list and not in the VST instruments or any other list, when I try to start ezdrummer in the effects list it crashes sonar. Can anyone help with this extra info, thanks.

    Thanks for posting Scott,
Strange how every single other plug in works fine. I’m very disappointed. I’ll let you know what happens, because I can’t believe I’m the only person who has encountered this problem.

Thanks for the speedy post Scott,
Windows and Sonar are both 32 bit, I downloaded the 131 version of ezdrummer, (there’s only one version for PC?), and I downloaded and installed the 32 bit update.
I’m self employed and have given myself three days off to really get to grips with ezdrummer and put some decent drum sounds on my music, but have so far spent the time trying to get it to work. I’m sure you can appreciate my fustration.

Ok, I’ve tried uninstalling and re-installing, I’ve gone to the vst plug in manager and identified the program, and told the DAW to load it, the program file is showing on the vst list and is being scanned, but still doesn’t appear in the soft synths or virtual instruments.

After reinstalling it and starting the DAW the same error message appeared as before. It says that EZ drummer has an error, of the “open type” and says it could be the following:

Plug in is not installed correctly (I have installed it and reinstalled it, using the latest version and updates)
Computer is low on memory,(less then half the 500GB memory is used)
The product is copy protected (I have authorised it by starting up ez drummer solo)
The programme is incompatible with the DAW (I’m using Sonar Home Studio 7 XL, is this possible?)

EZdrummer, is proving to be not so easy. I’ve had difficulty installing it, now problems getting it on to my DAW, I’m not a novice and this product is billed as being suitable for the beginner and pro alike. I’m very disappointed. I appreciate the speed in which technical support has so far answered my posts and hope that this problem finds a rapid and satisfactory solution.

    Just to Clarify,
I’ve downloaded the latest version 131, I’ve downloaded the 32 bit update, I’ve installed ez drummer solo, just to see if it works and it does and I’ve authorised the computer.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for that. I have now installed it. However when I start my DAW it days there’s an error, type “open” and it’s a risk to load ex drummer, I load it anyway but can’t find it in my DAW. I will check FAQ.
