Thanks for all the replies. I had a friend of mine who is local studio owner who also sets up Protools, Sonar and other DAW’s come over last night to take a look. He told me that EZD2 did not overwrite the first dll. He tried a few times to delte and reinstall the dll but it didn’t work. So he uninstalled everything from the registry and wiped my vst folder clean. We reloaded EZD2 and still nothing so he felt that the file system on my pc may have gotten corrupt somehow and recommended that we start over with everything. So we painstakingly reformatted the entire drive and are reloading my Protools and Cakewalk. Once we are complete he is only going to try to install EZD2 to see if that allows it to install. He is sure it will and said an old EZD1 dll was causing the whole thing because it doesn’t get deleted when 2 is installed. He found multiple instances of the dll on my system. I’ll let you know how I make out once we are complete. Should be later today.
Again thanks.

I have both. Again, right now I am only installing the 32 bit version to use only on the 32bit version of Sonar. The 64bit doesn’t work either.

Only the 32bit standalone is installed. Sonar can’t find a dll at the path shown in the help section to make it show up on the VST plug in list. I read online that EZD2 will overwrite EZD1 but I decided to delete 1 and just install 2. no luck still doesn’t work. I have spent just about my whole day off trying to figure out this out. This is crazy. I have never had a problem until this program. I have Waves, and a ton of plug ins installed and not one has ever done this.
I found only one dll. :EZdrummer.dll that’s it. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and still only one shows up. I moved the dll to the folder. Rescanned and still nothing.
Does Toontrack have any real phone support for their products? I’ll tell ya I’m ready to ask for my money back. I have an expansion pack I still didn’t unzip yet because I can’t get this to work in Sonar.

Are you sure it installs over EZD1? I can install it (EZD2) but only the stand alone part actually is accessable. The EZD1 dll file is still there but in the folder all the EZD2 stuff is there. I can’t access anything but the stand alone part at all. I also can not find the EZD2 DLL file after doing an extensive file search on my pc. So I unistalled everything I could find on my entire pc that said Toontrack and EZ Drummer 1 or 2 and am trying to reinstall only EZD2. I’ll let ya know what the result is. So far I haven’t been able to get Cakewalk Sonar to see it in the VST scans. I actually installed it and only pointed Cakewalk to that one folder and it still doesn’t show up on the Plugin list. I wonder if the dll file is even installing.

Right now i am asking about 32bit. (x86).
The reason I am also asking is because no matter where EZD2 installs, Sonar can not access it. I had EZD1 installed without a problem but when I upgraded to vers 2 it seems to not be able to access it.
This is what i did:
I downloaded the zip from TT site.
Extracted it to my hard drive.
Installed it to the loaction above.
Opened Sonar: pointed the scan VST program to exactly where it is (the whole Toontrack folder)
Sonar scans every other plug in I have.
I try to insert EZD2 as I always have with EZD1 and it is not on the list and now EZD1 is gone too.
I have had nothing but problems from downloading it to trying to make it all work. So i def need help at this point. I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling to the default location (cakewalk/shared plug ins/vstplugins/toontrack/ezd2) still can not get Sonar to see it.
I have tons of plug ins and not once did I have a problem installing or using it. Could it be a problem with the program files I downloaded from TT site? It took a very long time to download it all (about 2 full days)
Oh one more thing. Sonar usually had it installed as : Soft Synths>Toontrack>EXD1 (when it was accessible)
Should i be pointing to the main folder “Toontrack” inside the VSt folder or what is inside the Toontrack folder? It has Superior Drummer, EZ Drummer2, EZ Player. I noticed that the Superior Drummer DLL file is also on the list but it also isn’t showing up in the scan.
thanks

I finally got both programs downloaded and extracted. I can’t figure out where the dll file is though? My Cakewalk Sonar can’t find it in the Toontrack folder and thus does not see it to open it in Sonar. Can someone point me to a link of something that can help with this issue? thanks

thanks for the reply. i don’t mean to sound harsh but i am very frustrated about how long this has been. I just got off the phone with Verizon DLS support. they told me to find out the minimum spec to download the software. They ran all kinds of tests and said II have 3.0Mbps service running at 2.82Mbps with 5 wireless consumers , which is enough according to hem to download 1.1gb within 2-3hours. I just feel that the company Toontrack should offer the software on a disc. I could have had it up and running by now. It’s making me not want to buy software anymore that is only offered by download. So since yesterday I have had my 1.1gb download running and I am at 0.1/1.1gb completed. I am using Google Chrome. I tried IE as well. I have used Firefox in the past and really didn’t like it for me but I will try it again with the advice you listed above. Thanks again.

What is download a manager? I’m still trying to download EZX Metal…..going on 2 days now and it keeps going between 2 hours and 3 days. Back and forth. I went to my account, my products and clicked Download….is there some other secret way to get it faster?
Thanks

My question was:
On DFH, there are 2 cymbals that aren’t giving off the sounds that the picture represents(china sounds like a ride and the ride sounds like a crash). I didn’t alter anything, I just installed DFH like anyone else. Why first would I have to assign a note? Doesn’t that all set up when it installs or am I supposed to change stuff to use it properly?
I use Cakewalk Sonar 8.5.3 and there is, in the Help section, a set of directions on how to do it but it’s like reading chinese to me. Why would I have to go through this anyway? Shouldn’t everything work “stock” upon installing the software? Meaning that the default install or set up would set things up to the basic form of the software and then is a user wants to change stuff then you would go and assign different triggers and midi notes. TSo what I did was just put the Cd in and click install and the 2 cymbals are playing the wrong sounds for what they look like in the drum graphic.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. I haven’t altered any of the install routings, however it was installed from the TT installer and is how it’s set up. I use Sonar Producer 8.5.3 and it’s contained within the VST folder that TT installed to if this helps.
Not sure where to find the info you asked for. I’m not that technologically advanced.
