Can copy/paste handle that much data (couple hundred gig)? I’d just drag it over.

It can but takes a long time. I have a really fast PC so when I did it it took about 30 min for 500gb if data. I have a 10core i9 -32gb  system though. Dragging it over works as well.

I export my midi track from EZD2 into a file, name it whatever the song is and then import that midi file into SD3. You’ll have to combine (merge) all the parts you create though but I usually just recreate the parts by cutting the complete block into pieces again all within the SD3 interface either stand alone of in my DAW. Do it all the itme. I had a ton of drum midi tracks I created in EZD2 and then when I got SD3 spent time importing and rebreaking all the parts in SD3. Hope this helps. ***IMPORTANT TIP.  create a duplicate project first this way if you screw it up you have another to start over with because the merge midi function is not reversible****

First, I would invest in a 2TB drive so as you grow you have the space to grow. I use a Samsung T7 SSD 2.0Tb and it works perfectly and I use about 30% total right now. I have a lot of TT products on there. You will need a way to transfer the old contents of the drive you have to the new drive you’ll buy. You say you only have one port available but did that mean you don’t have any others at all to be able to do the transfer by plugging the old and new in at the same time to do the transfer? It’s simple to reloacte the folders over to a new drive. Just select everything on the drive, COPY, then go to new drive and PASTE into new drive and then go into SD3 and point ot the new drive in your locations area. I name mine SD3 and point to that. Hope that helps.  Note: Amazon has great Black Friday sales on Samsung drives. I got my 2tb for $149 last year but 1tb went for $89 last year.

    Hi Thomas

Buy Cubase and trash all the other’s

Notice that in the last screenshot I sent you “Cubase/Nuendo” I wonder why that is. I guess that superior Drummer prefers Steinberg products.

Personus hardware is great software not so much. It does not play nice. And that other thing by AVID, same scenario GREAT hardware lousy software. In MY opinion!
I own a Faderport 8, a Faderport 1 and an Avid MC Transport.

You can buy a Volkswagen buss, a Dodge Minivan or a Chevy Cargo Van. they all can haul the laundry but don’t toss 10 bags of cement in the first two. Hell the spare tire from my van won’t even fit in the Dodge.

An yes I own a big white bread box. Chevy 2500.

PS. I broke it once. Too much weight. Blew out the front right wheel bearings.

    Cheers

Thanks for that interesting response. Yeah, I’ll stay with Pro Tools, thanks. I’ve tried Cubase and never liked the visual appearance of it. Just because TT offers a setting for it does not mean it prefers it to one or another. Pro Tools is in about every Pro movie and recording studio in the world so its safe to say it’s an industry standard. I also think it has the best functions and features but has some things that are limited that pretty much i never use anyway. I also use Studio One 6 for the things that it does have. But thanks for the reply, I appreciate it  I’m a GM guy myself! Cheers.

I’ll just stay with Pro Tools until someone figures out an easy way to do it. Pro Tools is easier to do it.

Mine was found during the initial start up. My suggestion would be to make sure you have the current updates for S1 first then unintall the MPD218 and restart S1 with it plugged in. It may be able to find it itself. IMPORTANT**Make sure you install the Akai software first though but don’t add the 218 to S1 manually. Hope this helps. It routes better in S1 than in Pro Tools.

That toggle is for Cubase and Nuendo only so won’t work. There is topic with a workaround in Logic on here. That might be worth finding as the ideas may be transferable. I don’t know though as I use Cubase.

Thanks for your suggestion but unfortunately it doesn’t work with Studio One 6 (or any other version). It is a problem I believe with Presonus’s coding as to how it sees the input so if SD3 (or any other input program) is only seen as stereo no mater how the output is set then it can’t split the L and R as two single mono channels-1L 2 R.. It will aloow for a stereo- split mono 1L/1R where as one stereo channel becomes L and R in same channel but not two separate ones. Having it that way is a pain to try to process with FX as you would have to assign each insert as L or R all the time and it limits the amount of FX you can use on each channel. Very frustrating because Studio One blames Toontrack and Toontrack blames Presonus….I wish they would figure something out together. I had to stay with Pro Tools for the monet because of this limitation. Studio One has more features though.

Thanks for the reply buy unfortunately that does not work with Studio One 6.  It doesn’t seem that anything will allow for mono inputs no matter how SD3 is set to export. I have searched everywhere but no one seems to use it in that manner in Studio One 6.

In addition to the mono outputs, SD3 is also lacking 1 output if one wishes to mix the entire mic collection exclusively in the DAW. Recently, I mixed a 7.1.4ch mix, and besides using the pan to get mono out, I had to combine two mics in the SD3 mixer (surround Fronts with Center) before sending out to a stereo channel. It’s not a huge deal, but it is odd that a program recorded with 33 microphones would not allow all the channels to be routed out of the program at once.

Maybe if mono outputs is too cumbersome to implement,  it would be wise to increase the outs to 64 channels (32 stereo) thus allowing every microphone to be routed out without mixing in the program.

I agree, at least increase the stereo outs to 32 or make a way to add your own mono or stereo ins and outs for DAW’s.  I have Studio One 6 and am limited to max of 16 stereo channels for any kit I select without any way to add ins or outs. I have kits with 32 pieces I created in SD3 and Pro tools and have to combine channels for Studio One. This should be an update before they put out the next version of Superior Drummer- SD4!!! It should have been seen and fixed with SD3!!! I also use Pro Tools and they seem to have no problem adding inputs in the console in the DAW. AAX vs VST? Toontrack needs to get with DAW’s that use VST’s and get this limitation resolved , it’s 2022 now. Kind of like the master fader and meters still not working in control surfaces due to outdated limited codes.

OK, maybe I am an idiot but I don’t see anywhere to search the forums for topics so i don’t ask a question that has already been addressed somewhere. Can someone point me in the right direction? The search box at the top of the Toontrack page doesn’t do that.

Use the Search box at the top of the site. On the Results page you can modify your search results to “forum post” and so on.

Thanks. Didn’t realize I could use the top search box in that way! THANK YOU!!!!!!

How do you bounce to mono right from SD3? I can’t figure out how to export anything mono from SD3 into S1.  I have always used Pro Tools for this and can do it there easily but Studio One 6 only sees any input from SD3 as a stereo track. I’m new to S1 as well so I’m still in the learnign phase and may not have learned how yet. I did submit this to Presonus but they keep saying it’s a Toontrack thing and do not comprehend what I’m trying ot tell them. Thanks again!

Presonus states that Studio One 6 can’t split a stereo instrument output to 2 mono tracks within their software. They state that its a flaw with Toontrack’s coding and not on their side. I can do it no problem with Pro tools so I know it’s not a Toontrack issue.

Ok, so I routed all the stereo outputs from Superior Drummer 3 into Studio One and I now only have a possible 16 total inputs coming from Superior Drummer 3 with no way to separate any of them into invidual (dual mono) mono channels even if I assign mono tracks to output as two  (L & R mono for each stereo). This should definitally be addressed in an update as Pro Tools (not advocating for Avid but it’s true) can easily do this by right clicking and splitting to two mono tracs which makes L a mono out and R a mono out so you could assign kick in to L and kick out to R then you have 2 mono tracks for the kick in the channel mixer that can be processed and bused together again if need be. Whatever the stereo is assigned (kick in would be panned into left side of channel one and kick out could be 1R, then a kick sub 3/4 being 3L etc) and because it’sa mono track would be heard on both speakers as mono. What if I had stereo OH’s? I have to process them as one in a stereo track? Dumb.   I have no way of making each mic a channel or say 5 toms into 5 channels for panning or processing each with their own compression or eq etc. I would need at least 24 channels to bring the mics from my kit over to Studio One. I hope Presonus looks at this and gives us an update. I can’t find anyway to do this in S1-6 Artist at all so i’m stuck with only 16 total drum channels. Dumb.  Gotta stay with Pro Tools for now because it’s simple to do in PT. Come on Presonus fix this!

Thank you so much!!! You are the first one to have something about this! Question though, if there are 3 mics on a piece, ex:  Kick  in, kick out, and kick sub and I output from SD3 as 1/2-in, 1/2-out, 3/4 sub. I would expect that the export would go to new tracks in SI as they do in Pro Tools. Is there any way to do this? There seems ot be no way to have 3 different tracks in S1. Does doing what you suggested actualy creat new tracks or just give it a way to split it L & R?  I will have ot try this and reprot back. THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!

Why would a mono track go to a stereo master out to a DAW as stereo? There has got to be a way to export each track as a mono track into Studio One as a mono track instead of a stereo trac. Studio One doesn’t seem to recognise that 1/2 or any other stereo track as the left or right mono. I can’t figure this out at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
