Fr thank you so much – this is super helpful. I figured out a way to install the SDX’s I want without going over my internal storage limit but I definitely still think I’ll need an external hard drive at some point.

The old laptop was a 13-inch 2020 macbook pro with 8gb of RAM and like 250gb of storage, current laptop is the 16-inch 2023 macbook pro with 1TB and 16gb of RAM. I didn’t really think there were many opportunities to upgrade macbooks after buying them so I’ll definitely check out that link.

I’m curious now, since you said latency would be due to the interface, if there are any updates/upgrades to my current setup that I could make to reduce latency even more. The edrums are connected to a td-27 that connects to a presonus 24C through a midi cable and that’s the input I use for SP3. No worries if nothing comes to mind, I appreciate the input so far.

I previously ran everything through an external SSD on my old laptop but I was told that loading the sounds from a separate hard drive was contributing to my latency issues.  I have 16gb of RAM on my current laptop vs the previous 8gb so that’s significantly improved latency but I’m curious if you think I’d be able to move the files to an external hard drive without latency issues with the edrum connection. Thanks for helping me out here

Never mind, got through that last step. I think I’m close to having everything moved now. Thanks again

Thanks for the help! I ended up moving the files from the original drive to the new drive hoping to change the path in SP3 after that. Now, SP3 will not let me make any changes to the paths before verifying EZ drummer from a trial I had over a year ago. I no longer have EZ drummer installed so I’m stuck here at the moment.
