Hi Jack
Thanks for the advice and help. I will take a look.
It might be a bit of a glum response, but i have a few other issues as well. I have fibromyalgia and a few other things, so I don’t retain knowledge very well anymore. (Brain Fog/Cognitive Thinking etc). I used to be prolific at self learning, but now it’s much harder.
Still, ill give it a good shot.
In terms of genre…. I tend to write in the vein of Muse, Radiohead, Coldplay to Nine Inch Nails. Anything that has a good melody and a catchy chorus lol
Cheers

Hi Jordan
Ive managed to send a couple of tracks to you through FB Messenger. They are pre mastering and went to a studio to be mastered prior to pressing. I realise they sound ‘dull’ and that’s the point I’m trying to make.
I’m looking at buying some bundles to hopefully get a better result as i have limited production and mastering skills.
Cheers
David
Thanks.
Do you have a FB page and I can send you a couple of tracks through Messenger…..

Ill send you a couple of tracks through your FB page if that’s ok.

Thanks for the response.
It doesn’t really matter how the end result is reached in my opinion.
Unfortunately, I have to work within the skill set I have and using the piano roll is the way I do it. I’m not a dummer, so it’s all I can do.
With all due respect, I’m fairly sure that the feedback I received, the CD sales and the high radio rotation cant be that bad, but that’s just me defending my work I guess. Youre more than welcome to to let me send a track and you can hear for yourself.
The forum is saying an MP3 is too large a file.
Anyway, its the sound and production of the drums I’m really keen on improving.
Thanks
D
Thanks Jordan
Thanks heaps for your reply
In terms of recording. I have quality vintage amps and cabs that are miked up and recorded, the bass is the same too. I play all instruments and have only used the sims on occasion. I do my own harmonies, but the main vocals is someone else. We sold hundreds of CDs so I dont think they’re that bad
I use piano roll in edit to record the drums. One beat/hit at a time. Very time consuming but it allows me to build the kit naturally. I dont use the grooves straight out of the box.
Not beating my chest here. I know they’re not perfect, but I think most people dont realise its a drum machine.
Is there a way I can send you an MP3 to listen to? Email, WhatsApp or FB Messenger?? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks again
Cheers

Hi Jack
It did take that long to download, but yes Im using wireless. Not on broadband though.
Thnks for the instruction re bussing out the SD3 tracks, I shall give it a go.
I spoke with two of the studios today and asked the question lol. Both hi end studio and good friends. The response I received was. ‘No, if we thought they needed work, we have certainly advised you of that. The drums sounded great. Not hi end studio quality, but certainly good enough for radio and CD, so that was nice to hear.
I had the final tracks mastered before they went off for pressing too.
I know they’re not prefect, but they are adequate given my skill set I think. I recon by downloading some new drums (Bob Rock Foundry) I might get a better result. I’ll have a go at bussing them out and then get an engineer mate of mine to perhaps set them up as a template. He’s worked with SIA and Mike Oldfield, so he should have some knowledge i think.

Thanks heaps Jack.
No I’m not on dial up lol but it took that long and according to the forums, others had similar experiences. So no idea why it took that long.
I dont think i know enough to bus them out to individual tracks in PT. Also, i took my basic recordings to three studios and they kept saying there were ok as they were, so i dont know. Maybe they were just being polite.
I can email an MP3 if you like for you to listen to? let me know.
What bundles if any did SD3 come with? If i buy Foundries, I wont be doubling up will I?
Cheers
