Thanks for the responses. I think the issue is pretty much resolved. I suspect I am occasionally running into the memory leak bug that has been reported causing the symptoms. Which would square with what you guys have said about running out of memory. If I reboot the machine occasionally, it seems to stay away.

Thanks, yes 16gb of ram in the new comp. Im a little surprised because my old i7 has 16gb too and few if any stuttering/cpu spike issues. I also am using activity monitor to keep an eye on ram pressure and its been under 10gb. I also have run SD3 on a desktop PC with 8gb memory and really no performance issues.

But yeah…. maybe logic 10.7 has a much higher ram requirement. I used to run it in 10.4.2 without much issue except the GUI would kind of lag on the 2012 macbook pro i7. Random people on the internet seemed to say they had no trouble with SD 3 on m1 air and 8gb memory, but… idk.

Yes Studio One 5.4.1 newest update.

FWIW my performance with SD 3 in Logic x 7.4.2 has been abyssmal. CPU spikes, really bad

BUT its working great in Studio One 5 on the same m1 pro Monterey machine

So I suspect this is a Logic problem.. but who knows
