We have had a very similar problem and Johns solution does not work. Sorry mate 🙂

We imported our recorded acoustic drum tracks as MP3 files into Tracker, and did all the right things to get the SD3 kit sounds…these then converted to midi once we clicked export in the Tracker window. Then…All we wanted to do was play with the midi a little bit in Grid Editor…EG. Add a few kick hits here and there, quantize the kick’s midi track…But there is no way forward from there?

We tried all sorts of things we could think of but ultimately as soon as we tried to right click and copy the kick track midi in Grid Editor (or with the 2nd to 6th time around we just copied all the other midi tracks in Grid Editor too because they were fine) we are obliged to click X to leave Grid Editor window and try to paste the midi, because you cannot drag any midi anywhere else as the new song window suggests, but this only causes us to lose all the original tracks from Tracker as well as the midi data in Grid Editor Because…When we tried to right click paste the tracks to a new Song Track it says Clipboard Empty?? We clicked Edit>Undo to try save progress but we need help!

How come we cannot edit the midi drums in Grid Editor and copy/past the updated tracks afterwards to a new song track afterwards?

Hey guys. It seems our experience is the same. We recorded 7 acoustic drum tracks in the bedroom, converted the DAW tracks into mp3 files, dragged those 7 files into Tracker (Screen shot 1), tidied up the sounds with Sound Recognition to get what we were happy with, clicked export (Screen shot 2) and then felt we needed to quantize/fix some timing issues and also add some extra kick hits in a few places.

To do this we clicked on View>Edit Play Style and then clicked on Grid Editor (Screen shot 3) and made/added the changes but where to from here?

We cannot seem to find any way to move or update the export midi file we originally got from Tracker to reflect the changes. What have we missed?

NB. Once we click out of the Grid Editor our changes are also lost (x3)  ;-(

Thanks Mark. I have recorded the acoustic drums with seven mics (Kick, Snare, hihat, Tom 1, Tom 2, OH 1 & OH2). Would you suggest we convert each track to midi using Melodyne or Impact XT? Then once converted to midi how do we then map the tracks to get the sounds of the kit(s) in SD?
