I can’t believe this issue hasn’t been solved yet. This thread is a year and a half old (I joined the thread in June 2019) and the issue obviously effects many users. That’s simply not good enough. Time for Toontack to step up and either fix the problem or offer reasonable alternatives (e.g. heavily discounted crossgrade to S3).
I emailed Toontrack Support again about this two days ago and haven’t received a response. I am seeking a refund for recent EZX expansion libraries purchased as I believe Toontrack is in breach of its T&C’s as Cubase is stated as a supported platform and this ongoing problem fundamentally impedes my workflow. These purchases were made within the last 90 days so I believe I am entitled to return the licenses for these products as I cannot use them as intended. Had I purchased the core EZD2 product within the 90 day period stated in the T&C’s I would request a refund that as well…
Please comply with this request.
I’m unimpressed there’s been no movement on this issue or word from TT to resolve this other than an acknowledgement that the Devs are aware that it’s an issue, but no commitment to a fix or an ETA has been forthcoming.
If I was the product manager for EZD I’d be on the warpath to get this fixed considering that they advertise that they support the DAW’s experiencing these issues and that a fairly substantial portion of their user base is likely to be impacted. I’d also be unimpressed that it wasn’t picked up in QA prior to deployment. I guess it’s commonplace for most software companies to expect their user base to identify bugs these days, so maybe I expect too much.
Either way, I’m currently using a competitors product for my needs that doesn’t impact my workflow as much.
If you have the EZD2 GUI open and have a midi loop playing, audio will play and then dropout as soon as you perform another function in Cubase – e.g. select a different track or apply an insert plugin.
The current workaround I’m using is to play the loop and simply close the EZD2 GUI, before performing other tasks in Cubase. It’s an annoyance rather than a showstopper.
Already tried that (and the other ASIO driver options). No luck, unfortunately.
Well that was temporary….the issue is back. I’m also unable to replicate the problem in Ableton so it’s likely isolated to Cubase-EZD2. I’m getting the error msg whenever I try and select almost ANY function in Cubase (e.g. select a different audio track) and playback within EZD2 stops but only if I have the EZD2 GUI open. If I start a loop and close the plugin GUI, I don’t experience the problem. Weird.
I am getting the same error message in Cubase 10 Pro in EZDrummer 2 (both updated to most recent version) on a clean install of Windows 10. All are the 64 bit versions.
Audio is cutting out and the message is displayed if I have a MIDI loop playing within EZDrummer and try and select an audio insert on any channel in Cubase.
Reply To: EZdrummer 2 shows ''audio engine inactive, check you audio device'' version: 2.1.8
Operating system: Windows 10
Update: I did a rollback on my RME Babyface to the previous driver version which seems to have fixed the problem.
