My instinct without listening to the demos to every expansion would be Rock Solid EZX. The first thing that comes to mind with your example is that over-processed snare sound. I personally would load EZD2 into my DAW and get that snare routed to its own track in my DAW so I could really treat it. Or in my case, I might load the Rock Solid EZX into Superior Drummer and try treat it there. Just my first impression, maybe others could give their recommendation.

If you want to know what keys to hit on your keyboard you can open EZ Drummer 2, go to Main Menu>AboutSoundLibraies>(Select the kit you use)> Select Midi Layout.
If you’re looking to change what keys on your keyboard play which drums other than the default, I don’t think it’s an option with EZDrummer 2. That is an option with Toontrack’s Superior Drummer product. Though you should reference your keyboards user manual and see if it can change its own mapping.

Thanked by: StephenSpelmanI didn’t watch this whole video, but since he brings up cross-talk, it seems like a good watch for you…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B8hrwcKSx4
Send a screencap of the piano roll from your DAW if you want, I could take a peak.

Hi Jean. I’m guessing EZD2 cannot fix this issue for you. I’m only familiar with older Roland units. You should conciser adjusting the CrossTalk, Retrigger Time, Masktime, and/or Sensitivity settings for your HiHats, if that’s the only kit piece this is happening to. I assume either you’re flamming your hit’s by accident or the vibration of you playing your other kit pieces is creating extra triggering. These hits are so close to each other that when you quantize, EZD2 puts the hits on top of each other.
If you have a DAW, you could record into that and really see what’s happening with the midi notes via the Piano Roll.

Hi,
you can set the Quantize to triplets in the Tap2Find window but you cannot have 2 different Quantize values.
If you record to the Song Track, you can first record one pattern with e.g. Kick, Snare and HH and Quantize straight, next record a pattern with just the Toms and use the Triplet Quantize. You should then be able to copy the pattern with just your Toms and paste onto the other pattern. Cut the pattern where you paste as long as the one you copied, to make sure the Toms end up in the right place.
I hope this helps,

There is a work around! I’m familiar with that workflow, I wish I thought of this myself. Thank you so much!

It has always worked to choke cymbals with aftertouch, the difference in the update is that it can be recorded to a MIDI block on the song track. In the next version we will also add the option to edit Aftertouch in the Grid Editor.Do you want to use the aftertouch feature with electronic drums or by editing MIDI manually?
Manually would be great… if it’s not in the manual, please tell. I will look for it.

Your velocity might be set to max, which for the tambourine/shaker means Mute. Velocities under 124 should do it, and velocities under 42 should do it without the futurehit feature.

Hello,
So, I’ve got a song on the go. I open up EZD2 and am clicking the shaker with my mouse, & find a nice simple part I want to add. This turns out to be impossible, it seems.
The pattern is on [2 &] and [4]. Very simple. I discover that I can’t play it in realtime with a MIDI controller, even though it shows D-2 as the MIDI trigger, in the shaker details box. I tried painting the noted into a midi track, but again no dice. EZD2 just doesn’t allow it.
With further search, I understand it’s due to the nature of the sounds starting to make noise before the main “beat” part happens. (I read it here – http://www.toontrack.com/faq/how-do-i-trigger-the-ezdrummer-2-percussion/), but it would be nice to have the option to at least have a sound I can play/record, as well as this fantastic “futurehit” technology.
The article suggests to use a premade groove, so I went searching, but found nothing like the very simple groove I wanted.
It’s frustrating to be able to play it with my mouse, but not trigger it via midi, or even paint it in a midi track, & have it play of that.
Further I think this software is great, but this particular percussion bit just doesn’t work for me. I hope there can be an update that makes this more accessable – unless I’m missing some way of making this happen, of course.
Anyone else have any thoughts or experience with the percussion (shaker & tambourine specifically).
p.s. – I do have the Percussion addon so I’m going to try that instead, although staring at the shaker not being able to use it is annoying.
cheers,
Luke

If anyone is interested that comes across this thread, here’s an in depth view on how to program the Tambourine and Shaker…

I appreciate the explanation and your time. Is there any other documentation besides what’s in the EZ2 manual and this page http://www.toontrack.com/faq/how-do-i-trigger-the-ezdrummer-2-percussion/ that I can reference to utilize the tambourine and shaker?
Thanks!

If I program the tambourine to play 16th notes constantly. The first hit is muted, and the next few hits ramp up in volume. I just want the tambourine to play right away, no ramping… or no futurehit. Is it possible? Is that the ‘futurehit’ that I’m experiencing?
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Is there no way to modify the Tambourine. Or as it’s referred to as ‘futurehit’?
How is ‘futurehit’ pronounced? Future Hit?
Thanks
Shawn
