I’ve ALWAYS loved that about MIDI and DAW’s!!
I like people a lot, BUT musicians who won’t cooperate, are inconsistent or unreasonable … can truly ‘stifle’ the creative process, at certain stages.
If collaboration was the goal, then fine … I can accept ‘input’; but sometimes, you just want to develop your own ideas, without added ‘drama’ from other human beings (musicians).
Just yesterday, I was telling a friend that getting tools like EZBass is like hiring a pro-minded musician, to play an instrument you cannot play (well). And I think that because many programs are designed to be versatile, people don’t realize that getting under the hood of these things isn’t perfectly “EZ”, all the time.
I’ve had Steinberg Cubase for 30+ years… and it is no exaggeration to say, that one can learn much more about what it can do even decades later. The basics are indeed easy, however you can get WAY deeper if you want/must.
