First, you need to check the Cubase Essential 4 manual Chapter 12 ‘VST Instruments and Instrument tracks’. Specifically ‘The VST Instruments window’ section page 121-122. This will setup Cubase for multi output channels for the VST instrument (in this case EZDrummer).
“The rightmost button allows you to activate the desired output for the instrument. This is useful when you are using VST Instruments that have a large number of audio busses, which may be confusing. Click entries in the pop-up list to activate/deactivate output busses for this instrument.”
Then you need to open the EZDrummer manual, which can be accessed via the ‘?’ in the top right hand corner of the EZD GUI. Go to Chapter 4, ‘4.1 Advanced Routing’ (page 14) and follow the step by step instructions on how to set up multichannel in EZD.
Do get this error message in TT Solo or in a DAW? If you’re using Solo, have you selected the correct driver for the Audio Device menu? And I’m also assuming you’ve installed the latest version of Solo also?
