Ok, here’s the render of the HH 16th pattern alternating between Open Tip 1 & Closed tip articulations, slowly ramping in velocity. OH soloed. Default Marble Room preset. No additional processing is applied, except for the 17.8 dB of gain. I’m adding the MIDI file for reference.
I can clearly hear the two articulations starting on the opposite sides of the stereo-field and than “coming together” around velocity 50.
Hello Damian (EDIT: I’m sorry for getting your name wrong) and thank you for your response.
I must say, it’s hard to accept this explanation, considering that the HH is the only piece of the kit exhibiting this behavior. Also, high spatial spread in the ambient mics would be one thing, but not in the OH’s and not to this extent, and not on specific articulations only.
I might be mistaken, but it really sounds to me like the left and the right OH channel samples just got mixed up on the “Open Tip #” articulations (lower velocities). If SD3 software provided the ability to reverse stereo field on specific articulations, I could fix it myself (at least for my needs). Currently, if I use “Open Tip #” with other articulations in one groove, it sounds like a drummer having two HH’s.
I understand, that fixing this would be a long and tedious job (going through articulations and velocities) but I hope you’ll give this clip (HH through the OH mics) another listen before dismissing my claim.
Respectfully.
Alex.
