I can still run Superior Drummer 3.0 standalone and in Logic 9.1.8 with Multiface 2 at 64 samples latency without crackling. The multi-track DAW then runs loosely at 128 samples when mixing and at 256 samples when mixing very complex projects.
Of course, you’ll be reminded that you always need the latest version.
Yes, that’s true the system has grown old with me (I’m 56) but I can still drum quite well.
the investment in new hardware made by Apple is always more expensive, you can forget about buying a new Mac Pro. 12 years ago that was a lot of money for me, but it was still affordable.
I have to think about it, if i buy something new, or play until the computer gives up the ghost. 🙂

    Hello Bear- Faced Cow,
I wasn’t interested in the sound itself, it was more about the great fluid transitions, especially the hi-hat, like the SDX Allaire, where the hi-hat transitions, from closed to open, are very fluid. It varies from expansion to expansion. I have almost all the SDXs and the hi-hat’s respond very differently. The drumming process is different from the naked drums without compressor reverb and EQ, of course. I was mainly interested in the nice smooth transitions in the hi-hat.
    Greetings

    Halo Olle,
I tried to change the mapping of the edge strokes in the SD3, it did not work. I’m back to SD2 and edited the Midi Node in Custom and Vintage: Sidestick 0 to 75, Rimschott 76 to 127 all stored as Node, the Presets loaded one after the other, Node assigned and saved. Then SD 3 loaded, Custom and Vintage loaded, individual presets checked one after the other and it works perfectly.
Thanks and apologies for the circumstances.

Will dragging work on Mac OS 10.6.8 in the future, or will it stay that way?
    That would be a shame.

    Hello Olof,
I think it crashed when I created a MIDI file in SD 3 for Olle to demonstrate what the dropouts in Custom and Vintage look like when playing a snare. He wanted me to record it. I then grabbed the recorded part with the mouse and wanted to pull it towards the desktop, then it crashed.
Later I saved the file via Export MIDI to the desktop.
    Many greetings

I meant SD 2 preset load in SD3 and then edit as needed.

    Hello Olle,
I think it’s best if I re-create the presets in Superior 3. I just take the factory presets that came with Custom and Vintage as the basis for new presets, make the stackings new in the Superior 3 and save the presets. It is fast and comfortable in the Superior 3 and in the long run I do not want to do without the version 2 anyway.
    regards

    Hello Olle,
I started today Superior Drummer with 2 cores and 64 samples latency, then Load Custom and Vintage and Presets I created in Superior 2, both had Midi-Nodes in Superior 2, 0 to 75 Sidestick, 75-100 Rimshot. Sidestick and Rimshot react well, only when playing the snare there are skips, only from certain velocity there is a sound.
Presets that came with Custom and Vintage respond OK, but there was no sidestick combined with rimshot as a default.
Does this have to do with the translation of the Superior 2 MIDI nodes into Stacks in Superior 3?
I played a little bit on e-drums and there were always dropouts at low velocities.
Even quiet whirlwinds on the snarepad were not triggered at all.
I upload a crash report from today and 2 midi files with Roland TD 10 with TDW1 with cymbal control added.
I hope that it helps you

    Hello Olle,
In Logic settings, the number of threads is set to Automatic and Superior Drummer is loaded with setting to 1 core.
I tried to readjust it today. It was first loaded standard Ayotte set the Superior 3.0.3, I played a bit, it does not crack, then I have a Yamaha set the Progresiv Foundry loaded (even created in Superior 2), then crashed Logic off with a crash Message. The same preset saved as Superior 3.0.3 Preset works without problems even with the setting to 8 cores. Other presets, for example from Allaire, work perfectly.
In stand-alone mode, the standard Ayotte preset already crackled when set to 8 cores and 64 samples, I set to 128 and the crackle and humming disappear.
Is it best to save all old presets of Superior Drummer 2 as new presets in Superior Drummer 3?
Funny is the Logic with setting to 64 samples without crackling runs, in contrast to standalone version, the system load is higher.
I still upload the crash report from Logic today.
    Many greetings
