Probably the best bet if you have the option as a lot of stuff is now going to be x64 only.

Some DAWs, like Reaper, I believe, allow you to run mismatching plug-ins in a seperate process, this is normally done through the DAW ‘settings’, ‘prefences’, ‘options’ or similar, you will need to check your manual.  Once set you just use it as normal.  In Reaper for instance this is in ‘preferences/plug-ins/compatability’ where you select an option for ”VST bridging/firewalling’.

Or you can use something like JBridge – https://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/ – or someother similar program.

Of course the best option is to upgrade to a 64bit DAW that will also give you access to almost unlimited memory (including virtual mem not just physical RAM) unlike with a 32bit DAW where you are limited to just over 3G.

Reply To: My DAW is 32 Bit and EZBass is 64 version: 1.0.5

I agree, thats one of the very first things I noticed plus the fact scale choice is limited to just the major scale (and therefore its modes).  Personally, I think it would be better to just specify the exact chords you want and not worry so much about the scale, after all, even in rock/metal etc. where power chords are used how often are the chords in a song all diatonic to a given key.  I agree with arthur and think that improvements to the ‘compositional’ side of EZBass are more important than more basses, after all there are so many amazing bass samplers all ready available, to be fair I only purchased EZBass as a way of quickly generating bass lines, I am however realistic and realise that  with more complex harmonies some manual editing will always be required.

    Hi Erik

Thanks for the reply.  The ‘Original’ song button was not active. I did think about chromatic passing tones, and yes in some cases that is possible, but some just didn’t look right, for instance, normally a passing tone is fairly short in duration but some of these were 3X the duration of the note it was leading to, albeit the total duration was just a crotchet, so maybe I am being a bit pedantic.  The one example I have left  has 2 Bb’s in the space of a crotchet leading to an A which makes sense as a leading note to the 3rd, but not to have 2 one after the other, trouble is I have now moved the Bb’s to B (which sounds awful) and I cannot be 100% sure that I didn’t accidentally move the 2nd Bb  from A by mistake, but I am pretty sure I didn’t as I remember thinking at the time that if it was a passing tone then why have 2 of them. So I think at this point I had better monitor what happens in the future and if anything looks odd I will send you the groove to look at. For reference the groove I was using was Picked Rock 85bpm variation 02.

The print to pdf option does not appear in my print dialog, whether or not it does in later windows versions I have no idea.  Anyway thanks for the reply.

OK thanks for that. As the the disk is in use I have set it to check when the system next restarts.

No, I thought that meant to do a repair?  Should I still use /r if it found no errors.

I ran chkdsk and it reported no errors found.

Just to say that the last Reaper crash was caused by Kontakt 5, apologies for jumping to the wrong conclusion.

    Hi

Sorry for the confusion – when i said it was sorted I was referring to the issue that I raised regarding being unable to install the last part of SD3 for which I was given a work around that I had to modify slightly to get to work, but as I said I did get it to work, the install that is. I raised the issue regarding the SD3 forum at the same time, as I found out when I tried to report the problems I was having that I could not access the link I found for the forum neither was there one listed along with the other forums, if you see what I mean.

Anyway I will download the latest version, Reaper has just crashed again and that never used to happen, at least very rarely, before installing SD3.

I will contact support via the link given re access to the SD3 support forum.
