I bought EZ Bass 4 weeks ago. It has a few glitches (version 1.04) with Cubase 10 if you try to do too much too fast making changes in the Grid Editor. It crashed Cubase and when I opened it again the whole project was not saved . I started saving it every few changes both in EZB and Cubase  and resolved that problem.  Beyond that it is actually amazing.

For the rest of you that don’t like EZB, I think you have to give Toontrack a little time to work out the bugs and for people to learn how to us EZB effectively. I worked an a groove using EZ Drummer 2 to set up the basic rhythm in EZB and altered the (limited selection for now) of Grooves to find one close to what I wanted and using the transition option was able to quickly get it working the way it wanted it. The Groove was in 6/8 time and had  some different chords beyond Major or Minor chords.  The slides and hammer-ons did the job.

So, folks. If you want to play music beyond Heavy Metal or Rap loops, it is like trying to become a programmer to build a website with a free app, instead of actually programming one in WordPress, or a mobile phone app for photos compared to what Photoshop does for graphics. EZ Bass needs time for people to stop looking for perfection in a quality application with out learning how to treat it the way they created it.  Watch all the Videos and Tutorials you can find.

As a professional working with real drummers and bass players in the past, I find EZ Drummer 2 and EZ Bass get the job done for me, and have no arguments from  unreceptive musicians. Now I get better songs the way I want them for my recordings.

Give it some time. They will add more Grooves later ( I suspect).

    Appreciated you response.

I will look into those methods and let you know how it works for anybody else interested.

I actually tried using the Velocity as a complete groove to even out the volume, but it still was not evened out as I would like to hear it. Adjusting 1 note at a time is very time consuming.

I will look into the Dynamics control to see how it sounds and get back to you.

    thanks,

    Richard

    Robert,

needless to say I did not know you only had one hand. I might have a couple of solutions for you, but do not want to continue assuming anything else about your unique situation without more information.

If you would like to discuss your musical situation further, I would be happy to chat with you.

There are some apps for guitar playing on a midi keyboard already available and I tried them myself to see if they would work until Toontrack comes up with a  solution for you. They are not going to replace actually playing a guitar, but could help you out. Having one hand on any instrument would be very hard.

You can send me a message to mmwebmarketing@gmail.com if you want to talk.

    Best of luck,

    Richard

Please  – I hope they never try to replace playing guitar in an app like EZ Bass. There are several Guitar apps that piano players try to emulate as guitar players, but they never quite work out that well. As an experienced guitarist, that is why they can’t replace us. There are too many variations on one note, let alone bends, and touch, and pull-ons, chord pairs into sliding – the list is endless.

It’s like trying to actually play fiddle or violin. An they only play no more than 2 notes at one time.

Even what position on the neck it changes the way a guitar melody or pattern makes it so unique.

Please – learn to play guitar  – not another digital synth supposed to sound like it can be one.

    Just my Opinion

You need to upgrade your Cubase to 10 I guess. You must be on an older version of your Windows too.  I Started with Cubase 4 many years ago. Moved up to 7, then 9 and had to change my version along with my Windows 7 up to Windows 10 ( which I hate). Problem is my older computers didn’t keep up either. There is no easy or inexpensive way to play really good music without up to date equipment and apps.

    Just saying. LOL

    Hi,

I disagree with the concept of only needing Maj and Min chords. I just tried playing a country tune with 7ths and had to rewrite the whole thing after adding in the additional notes to match with the chords I used – E, A, B, E7 & B7. These are the basics of country and blues songs ( in any Key) and the grooves never came close. Same with the bass grooves to match rhythm I installed with EZ Drummer 2. The grooves weren’t even close for what I wanted to play in a simple country song. I would wonder how a jazz player would like it without grooves for some really fancy chords

EZ Keys is so great for it. I hope you will reconsider that idea.

It was fun though, as I wrote a new tune using EZ Drummer 2 with EZ Bass and came up with a really nice song. I use Cubase 10.

Thanks again for getting it operating.

I think EZ bass is to help non-bass players to get a groove quickly into the background for your music. There are several guitar apps that work ok, but are never going to replace playing great guitar. That is why no one has developed one that can play like a guitar. As an experienced guitar player, I only hope it will never be replaced by digital music. Same for singers. When that happens music as we now know it will be dead for ever and start sounding like Rap and loops. Real music needs to be more creative than that simple music that is only about the beat.

    Hi,

Sorry everybody. I figured it out for myself. When I save a “new” preset, the old one appears in the name location the same as many other apps do in the name window. If I select the original one and save the new file as the old name I can edit it any way I want to .

    Duh!!!

    Thanks

    Hi,

Yes -I started out registering all my products with “rgrills1@telus.net” with all my products -EZKeys, EZDrummer2, EzMix – then registered to the forums as  my other account email address is “mmwebmarketing@gmail.com”.

Like the question about “deleting presets”, I can’t edit my account to go to the forums in either without registering all my products as well.

Your website has not working  support links on the bottom line – EG. “support” is not functional.

Hope you can help me out again?

    Thanks,

    Hi,
I just want to add my support for this comment. I have been a guitarist for 50 years with some minimal keyboard capabilities. I have been using EZDrummer and EZKeys for a while now and love both products. I also invested in an EZMix bundle which is not as impressive as I had hoped. I use Cubase 7.5 which has so may great music creation features including some preset mixing solutions similar to those in EZMix.

However the biggest struggle for me is getting a really good bass line to go with any music I create or covers I am playing with. I have a midi keyboard and a Roland guitar synth. Playing bass with either of these is not very effective as the Roland is touchy and doesn’t play like a real guitar and a keyboard cannot be played like a guitar.

I have tried Amplesound’s MIDI Guitar product. They offer Bass solutions but to be honest you have to be a good keyboard player to use them. They intend to add bass rifts to their product soon, but based upon my test of their guitar product I suspect it will be very limited.

Having a EZBass product in Toontracks portfolio would be awesome.. I have nothing more to say about that, Your system is the best and adding bass guitar to the mix would be the final step providing us with all that we need. I hope it is in the works.

    I’m having the same problem.
My EZdrummer is working fine. I was under the impression that when I installed EZD2 it would automatically locate the proper folders and install the .dll file in the correct place. I cannot find an EZD2.dll file to relocate in the Cubase7 plugins folder. Can anyone tell me if there is such a file. I’m using the 64 bit version.

I found that unzipping the files and then running the install solved the problem.Laugh
