Im going to respond to my question with a possible answer for anyone interested.  I also found the Sneaker Pimps – 6 Underground to be stripped down and pretty close, which lead me to who sampled, that lead me to the conclusion its a rock type beat of all things!    MrJ

Nadda, lots of it is sample based.  I would start with a search individually for downtempo / chill / trip hop – on audio love dot me

There are some really good packs available, anything from Shroom and Monster Breaks can be chopped up quite nice, Rhythm Lab is another hottie:

It certainly would be nice if Toontrack did a KIT & MIDI set though, wink wink nudge nudge.

Ableton has an incredible tool for analyzing an audio file (drum loop) and converts it to midi, then add in your own drums..

Hello,

Your post is a year old and I wanted to give this a bump.  Downtempo / LoFi / Trip hop / Chill / Lounge all kind of run together in some ways…

Ive posted similar posts looking for the perfect kit…   Anyone have some answers to these questions?

The Hip Hop kits are a start…  How about a breakbeat / downtempo SD3 or MidiKit?

Someone posted a clip from an Eric Clapton song that hits the mark in a way.  These are very rudimentary sounds / beats / rhythms that should be very very easy to accomplish with this software but some of us are falling short and looking for answers.  Please advise.

A quick note:

You’re looking for the Amen Brothers break, I THINK at maybe half time..

 

Apache break is close but youre certainly into the Amen..
