I don’t really have to even hit the open HH hard…it seems to register the foot pedal even with the lightest touch.

Again, the DTX unit doesn’t have this issue. So is the issue with the output of the DTX?

Is there a “sensitivity” setting I can change somewhere?

…I’d really hate to have to buy new hardware, gah.
