Have exactly the same question, so hope someone can answer what Dan has asked.
EDIT: Got it, Dan. First, check out the Timpani video on the OP SDX site. Near the end it shows you how to get to the Timp Preset. Click on the Preset box to the right of the Orchestral 1 Preset box on the interface. This screen shot shows you where to look. Hope that helps!

Thanked by: dznyThanks Rogue. No the files don’t seem to be anywhere on the drive that I can find. I even looked at the hiidden files and the Incompatible Files folder etc., and they aren’t there. I’ve only been on Mountain Lion about 4 weeks and this is the first problem with any of my libraries that I’ve found, but both EZD and Superior are so messed up that I’ve uninstalled everything and am now beginning to reinstall from scratch. The original SD installer on the DVDs seems to work okay, but am downloading the EZD base installer from your web site now as the one on the CD fails. Will apply the recent updates to both once installations are complete and the start reinstalling all the EZXs etc. Thanks for your help so far.

GarageBand can use third-party software that adheres to the Core Audio AU standard. However, there are limitations. Audio Unit instruments which can respond on multiple MIDI channels or ports can be triggered only on the first channel of the first port. This means that multi-timbral instruments which contain multiple channels and respond to many MIDI channels, such as Kontakt for example are not ideally suited for use in GarageBand. For more info on which applications are supported by EZD, please go here: http://www.toontrack.com/compatibility_list_generic.html

Re: “Out of the module (MIDI) to an audio interface”
—No, that would be out of the device you are using > a MIDI interface. You need to send MIDI into the computer to trigger Superior, not audio. C/o the MIDI interfaces at M-Audio for example. But for a MIDI audio interface combined (may be the least expensive option for you), c/o the Presonus FireBox, for example:

Re: “Out of my laptop via firewire or usb (which is better?) back into an audio interface”
—The best digital audio interface performance is first via a PCIe card, then via firewire and in last place via USB. ‘On-board’ audio devices that come with a computer are not recommended, and normally should be disabled.
You may wish to provide information here re on WHICH laptop you plan to use (PC? Mac? O/S? etc.)
EDIT Level 3: please don’t post links to other drum sampler companies… it is OK to talk about them but I’m sure interested parties can use a search engine and we’d like to think being liberal does not mean everything should be permitted 😉

If your keyboards already have MIDI then next you need a way to get MIDI from your keyboard into the computer so that it can trigger the drum software….so you require a computer with a MIDI interface…. and a digital audio interface and lots of RAM and, if possible, the computer should be tweaked for music. Then you may wish invest in a host application for Superior Drummer. Finally you would send the audio from the drums out to the audio interface then on to an amp and speakers, so you can hear it. In brief, that is one way to do it. Hope that helps………….playz
PS: “SD2” is the official commercial designation for StormDrum 2 from EastWest. In case you ever post on other forums, best to be aware of that. It’s slightly unfortunate that Superior Drummer 2 has the same abreviation. I have both so I must be extra careful!Â

Re: “Can someone please help?”
— Probably not very much without you telling us more about your settings in Sonar, and a lot more. Saying something doesn’t work is necessary of course, but in order for folks to help you, we need to know what you doing and where you are doing it. BTW, are other VSTi(s) working fine in Sonar, and is it only EZD with which you are having problems? How specifically have you set up EZD in Sonar? Did you go through the installation guide and the manual? What digital audio interface are you using?………..playz
