Looks like we have solved it. So far no crashes!!!

    From Toontrack…

When we tried changing the library via MIDI we encountered a similar issue.

We believe these issues only occur if you change presets using MIDI – “program changes”, via the EZD2 Menu > Settings > MIDI Events > Program Change. Try turning that off to see if it helps.

    Well that was simple

Files on my server – Named: July 10 2020

    http://themose.ca/Toontrack/

    What I did:

    Created a new Logic project

Created a new Software Inst track

    Created a new Audio track

Imported an audio file set tempo to the track 190

Record through Vdrums to EZ Drummer

    16 bars

Do playback – setting for record and playback Modern Basic kit

While it is playing I switch to my first User Preset. ( trimmed the list to 14)

While the track was playing and I had switched to the first preset I got a system warning (see screenshot in file) Never happened before? As mentioned new faster Mac – no other programs running Buffer set on 512 No other plugins nor effects

I then click the warning restarted the track – which was still on my first preset and using the “arrows” to select the next preset down the list.

    Selected # 2 preset  …then #3  preset & then it crashed.

    The presets

#1 a modified Yamaha set – all-new Cymbals ( from 4 different packs) and a replacement snare from the Modern PAck)

#2 DX kit fairly stock changed in the mixer only One cymbal swapped from a different pack

#3 Built from scratch Craviotto Mostly from one pack

    That is all I know!!!

Not 100% sure what that means but what I am gathering is that EZ Drummer is not as fluid as some other VSTs – Battery, BFD, Logic instruments and EZ Bass I can just about do anything I want with it. Play a track and change any and all settings

So basically be aware of this?

    Will do!!!

I don’t think it is so much what notes played – I would look at what midi notes are assigned. SO what the kit looks like (How many different instruments from what different EZ drum packs?) and what instruments assigned to what midi note again and from where? My User Kits are generally started from scratch. Not a Pop kit with a different snare. So all over the place.

    Hence a question

How elastic, flexible, and friendly are the packs to each other? So a bass from this pack two cymbals there a snare here etc etc

    Any reports of that conflict?

Did one test last night – does not seem to crash when auditioning native kits. But that was not extensive – would need to set the time aside and really do some repeats.

There are a few things I would test but will wait til I hear back

    To test:

    • Number of user kits
    • What native kit I was in before going to user kits (Was it the installed or an add on pack?)
    • What buffer size?

And more than likely others … but these are off the top of my head.

    Right now busy recording…

Yes all different. At random.  No pattern nor rhyme nor reason for which kits I audition. the particular piece of what I played dictates it?

I have about 30 user kits and change them all the time for recordings … diff kits diff tunings.

    Here ya go
    http://themose.ca/Toontrack/

Hadn’t opened this project since it crashed. And the project is the “autosaved version.”

I have a dozen or so different projects just like this and use them in combination with regular drum practice as well as using BinaB…

So, please excuse the drum playing!!!!

Maybe after 4 – 5 passes I record one but not as a general rule? I then have a listen and sometimes play with it in EZ Drummer or Logic drums or Battery  – maybe there is something I played I liked and will save the bar or two for later?

This was recorded onto an external MIDI instrument track (V Drums) and then copied and pasted to the EZ Drummer channel strip … I would call this a “bare” set up nothing elaborate added.

This is a complete new set up – Only a day or so old.

    Further to …

I tried what I thought would work – make a kit out of the Latin Percussion instruments

    No can do.

I can use the LP cymbals and there are a couple I like that I will incorporate into my EZ Drums sets – but for $53 bux – expensive add ons.

    I tried!

Now I am not a stick in the mud!  As I was going to sleep last night I thought to myself …

I could build a couple of user kits that have congas and timbales and bongos where the toms and snares are on the reg kits.] and save em???

Going to try that today. Not a huge deal but might have been some sort of built-in user kit – it is EZ Drummer after all, no?

    LOL
