Hi to Everyone who’s interested in the solution to my problem… I can’t believe it but when I clicked on ‘Run As Administrator’ in the Studio One program, EZkeys2 operates exactly as it should. That’s all I had to do. I wish someone could have come up with the answer for me because I’ve wasted almost a week trying to solve this problem. Now I have to work on an arrangement that I need to get ready asap.
Thanks for all suggestions.
Paul
Hi B,
I’m doing nothing different. Because of this problem, I purchased a Tutorial Course on EZkeys2. In that video, when he Left Clicks and drags the groove from the Song Track, only one Midi groove is dragged. With me it’s multiple!
If I only perform 1 – 3 and then Left Click and drag the groove from the Song Track to Instrument Track in Studio One – same problem so it’s nothing to do with ‘Replace Midi’ or ‘Save Changes’.
I’ve made a quick video of what is happening here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/45MLjZCmd36K8UTX8
This is with a completely new initialization of Studio One. Open a New Song. Then all I’m doing is as above 1 – 6
I’ve since found that if I hold CTRL Key down while I’m dragging the groove to the track in Studio One, I get only one track vertically but… multiple tracks horizontally. So I’m not able to really use this program.
FYI, I also own EZBass and following the exact order of things from above there is no problem! There is only a transfer of one groove. It works perfectly.
Same for EZkeys1 64Bit.
Presonus Tech says it’s likely a coding problem so I hope Toontrack can find the source of the problem and fix it.
Hi John, Brad & Christoffer,
I sent a video link to Presonus so let’s see what they think is wrong.
I wasn’t aware until today that when I hold down CTRL Key while dragging, it’s still bringing over surplus grooves. Instead of placing them vertically, it places them horizontally.

Hi Brad, John & Christoffer,
I have a ticket with Tech at Presonus. They want me to make a short video of what is happening re: multiple tracks. Do you think I still need to do this considering I’ve found out that I can avoid getting multiple tracks by holding down the CTRL Key while dragging with Left Mouse? I was thinking you would be able to solve the problem now.
Please advise,
Thanks,
Paul
Hi Brad, John & Christoffer,
I’ve found a way to stop this multiple file thing from happening! All I have to do is hold down the CTRL key while dragging with the Left Click. Then, only one file is dragged to one track.
In the same song, if I don’t hold down the CTRL key, I get multiple tracks.
I’m not sure if the source of this problem is Studio One setup (I did re-install and also reset all settings previously) or in EZkeys2. But I think knowing this should allow you to find a solution.
Please keep me posted.
Thanks again!
Paul
Hi Christoffer,
Thanks for your suggestion. I woke up at 4:30am and was thinking I should delete everything in that folder. But I followed your instructions perfectly and only deleted .mid and info files. I’m totally surprised to find that it didn’t work.
I opened up a brand new song in Studio One. Left clicked to drag a groove to the track. No problem. Only one track showing up. Then selected another groove and dragged it to the track. Multiple grooves again!
Please see attached jpg.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi John & Brad,
I have a ticket with Presonus. If we’re lucky, they’ll know what’s causing the problem. I’m optimistic but on the other hand, this problem doesn’t happen with EZkeys1 64Bit.
The ProgramData folder doesn’t look too bad – to me, that is. I’m attaching a pic of it.
I’ve deleted a bunch of songs hoping it was just a corrupted song file in Studio One but the problem is still there.
I’ll see if I can post on a Studio One forum somewhere too.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi Brad & John,
FYI, today I opened EZKeys 1 (64-bit) and went through the same process I’ve been doing in EZKeys2. There was no problem. Whatever I did resulted in only one Midi track being dragged. So thought I’d let you know to rule out the possibility that it’s Studio One that is causing this pile up of memorized tracks.
Hope the Studio One 6 Session I sent yesterday allows you to duplicate the problem so it can finally be solved.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi Brad & John,
FYI I also completely reset all the settings in Studio One 6 so this is completely baffling.
Please see attached the Studio One 6 Session as requested.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi again,
Same problem with New or Old song. It seems I have 2 ToonTrack folders. I’ve made zip of both. Also a jpg showing the 2 folders. UPDATE* Zip File of EZKeys2 in Users-All Users-ToonTrack was too large to upload.
A weird thing happened but I couldn’t duplicate it. I clicked on something and it showed EZKeys2 (2). Made me think I have 2 installations on this PC but when I go into Studio One and look at VST’s there is only one version of EZKeys2 and one of EZKeys1 (64bit).
So I uninstalled Studio One 6 and tried Studio One 5 with a completely new song etc. Same problem when I drag grooves to track. So after sending this, I have to try and download and install Studio One 6 again.
Thanks again,
Paul
Hi John,
A couple more jpgs. One showing that ToonTrack is also in ‘All Users’. Perhaps this is normal but it seems there are files in 2 Document Folders.
Also, I neglected to answer your question about ‘deleting old grooves’. Once again, I was clutching at straws. In EZKeys1 there was a window for dragging your Favorites to re-use later. I don’t see that feature in EZKeys2 but was thinking that’s where all these tracks were coming from. So I deleted all my old EZKeys1 ‘Favorites’.
Paul
Hi John, I decided to try the uninstall thinking it may work. It didn’t. I’m not really a techie but think that some elements of EZKeys2 have gone to the wrong place in the install process. I have not changed the install folder – just followed instructions from ToonTrack Product Manager.
I did go to the Toontrack folder that supposedly held the ezk2p file ‘Too Late’. A song of mine that I’m desperately trying to arrange in Studio One. I deleted the file. But… when I opened up EZKeys2 in Studio One and checked open recent files – there it is! It shows up as being in C:\Users\Paul\Documents\Toontrack\EZKeys2|Too Late – Verse.ezk2p
So I did a search on Drive C: for it and have attached the jpgs.
Every time I go back into EZKeys2 and drag grooves to track, it simply adds to the total of opened tracks. It was around 17 yesterday, now it’s opening 25.
Please see attachments.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi John,
Thank you for looking into this. I’m using latest version of Studio One – Artist. With Windows 10.
When I mentioned Auto-Save in EZKeys2 I was only clutching at straws because I have no idea why this is happening. This morning I reset all setting in EZKeys. Then I opened it up in Standalone mode. Grabbed a groove and dragged it to Desktop. There was no problem. The Midi File plays perfectly. However, I then went into Studio One and started a new song, added a standard groove, grabbed a groove and placed it into verse then saved it. Then I dragged that groove over into Studio One and voila! Now I have 21 tracks of EZKeys2! Please see attachment. These are obviously different grooves I’ve selected over the last few days. They just keep piling up on one another.
I have to run out now for a Doc appt. but when I get back I’m going to completely uninstall EZKeys2. I’ll leave EZKeys1 on my computer and I won’t remove and expansion kits.
If there is any folder or file I should delete manually, please let me know. Then I’ll reinstall and hope for the best.
Thanks, John
Paul
Hi
I don’t have the Midi – only a wavefile. I’ve tried converting the wavefile to Midi in Melodyne but it only picks up a few notes here and there – not enough to allow EZKeys to find it. I’m so peed off with myself… I’m always doing stuff like this and causing my own problems.
I’ve since found a few styles that work but nothing as good as the previous version.
Thanks,
Paul
