Thanks for helping out, I can reproduce the bug here as well. The system gets confused by the existence of 2 different User MIDI folders, I will create a bug report and get this fixed for future versions.

Meanwhile, you can use Add linked folder to the parent “Ezbass” folder instead of the actual “User MIDI” and that will fix the problem for you (not perfect but at least your EZkeys2 User MIDI folder is writable again)

That does sound like a bug, I couldn’t reproduce myself so please provide all information you can, a video would be most helpful.

    Hi,

there is currently a (quite unnoticeable) progress dialog in the top bar, right next to the Show Web Shop MIDI button when you use ‘Add Linked Folder’ or ‘Sync File Changes’. While this is being done you cannot add new files to the User MIDI folder, you have to wait until it is done.
We will be making improvements to this in future updates so it becomes more obvious that the Grooves Tab is busy while syncing/adding folders.

Just in case you missed it: If you already went through the process of adding EZbass folder using the ‘Add linked folder’ option, you can always right click that folder in the folder browser to the left in the Grooves Tab and select ‘Sync File Changes’ instead of having to go through the ‘Add linked folder’ process every time.

The MidiDB file simply contains references (and some associated data) to your installed MIDI libraries, used by the Grooves tab, (including any 3rd party/user libraries/folders), the only reason you would want to copy them over is if you have the exact same folder structure as your old Mac (so that the references are still valid) and you want to keep the state for favorited/starred files in grooves tab.
I would recommend you don’t copy these over since they contain data unique for the system it exist on (these files will be created once you install and run Superior3 on your new Mac).
But, if you have your 3rdparty/user folders in the exact same folder structure as on your old Mac, these MidiDB files would probably work.

So, long story short, you could make a backup of these files and keep somewhere else, install and run SD3 on your new Mac (and add any user folders you want to see in the Grooves tab) and see if you actually miss something, if you do, you could try and replace the MidiDB files with your old and see if that actually works. (If that doesn’t work, you can just remove the files and restart SD3 and it will rebuild them automatically)

Note: You can skip the MidiDB files in OnlineMidi folder entirely.

Please do not move program data files in this manner, it will cause problems for you down the line, so restore your files as they were before.

As for the OPs issue, favorites are currently stored locally for each product, so EZD3 (and Superior Drummer 3) will start from scratch and have no favorites, we have taken note of this issue and will discuss it for future updates.

Hi there and sorry for the late reply.

This very rarely happens so we don’t have any magic recipe for fixing this but I will try and help you figure this out.

    1. On the new computer, are you using a spinning disk or SSD for your C:/ drive? Is the performance good otherwise on that particular disk? (Copying files etc)
    2. How much free disk space is there on your C:/ disk?
    3. How much RAM memory does your computer have and how much is SD3 using (seen at the top right of the interface)
    4. Have you added any User MIDI/Linked folders to the browser, if so: How many files approximately?
    5. Can you try to turn off the advanced sorting in the browser (Options button at the top left in Grooves tab -> Advanced Sorting) and see if the performance changes.
    6. Can you try and Rebuilding the MIDI database by going into Settings/Advanced and clicking the “Restore MIDI Database…” button? (Note that any user MIDI/linked folders will need to be re-added after this)

Yeah sure, make a backup of MidiDB, MidiDB_fav, SoundDB and SoundDB_fav and then go to settings/advanced and click both “Restore Instrument Database…” and “Restore MIDI Database…”.

Then you can re-add your linked folders etc and see if the issue is gone.

The grooves browser do get slower the more MIDI that is added to it since its more information to scan through when searching, however 8-10 seconds sounds quite long.

There is unfortunately no other good way of solving these issues other than what John suggested.

You could make a backup of the file “C:\Users\”Your user name”\AppData\Roaming\Toontrack\MidiDB” (Close all Superior3 instances first) and then try Restore MIDI Database to check if it helps.

Some questions to help us understand why its taking so long though:

    1. Do you know how many additional files you have added roughly?
    2. Do you know what type of disk you have? (Mechanical spinning disk/SSD)
    3. Also, can you check the size in MB for the file “C:\Users\”Your user name”\AppData\Roaming\Toontrack\MidiDB”?
    4. If you close all Superior3 instances, do you still have files named MidiDB-wal or MidiDB-shm in the folder listed above? In that case, what size do they have?

Hi, it sounds like something is preventing EZbass from creating the temporary MIDI file used during a drag event.

I would suggest the following troubleshooting:

    1. Make sure that the folder C:\ProgramData/Toontrack/EZbass is set to allow writes. (Let me know if you need help doing this)
    2. If that doesn’t work, try removing the folder “EZbass” in the same location, launch the EZbass stand alone application after doing so and the EZbass folder should be recreated with correct permissions.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi,

I cannot reproduce this issue but there might be some write permission issues at play here following a Windows update or another installed program or similar.

You can try (as a sanity check) to launch Cubase with elevated rights (right click Cubase program icon and select “Run as administrator”) and see if the problem goes away, if it does you can browse to

C:/ProgramData/Toontrack/Superior3 folder and make sure Cubase is allowed to write in there by right clicking the folder, select “properties”, go to security tab and then make sure your current user has write permission, if not, press “edit”, select your user and make sure “write” is checked.

Let me know how it goes!
